[pet] my gerbil knows not to eat his wheel. nice metal wheel, so he can't chew through it. constantly giver him stuff he can chew. then there are days he wants attention and will bang stuff against his
glass to get you to notice him. and if that doesn't work or it does and you check on him he'll dutifully try to eat his wheel and listen to you as you yell at him, refusing to pull away.
And then once you've talked to him for like 10 minutes he stops, pleased with himself that you came to talk to him.

he likes being talked to if not held.
