Her birthday is on Friday, if anyone wants to surprise her with something. She will not be expecting it.

But near the end of the month, if no one intervenes, she's going to have a bender of sorts to toughen herself up.

...by which she is going to deliberately seek out her nightmare scenarios in the hopes that surviving them means nothing else that happens to her or is asked of her will seem as bad by comparison.

She's not going to tell people what she's doing, exactly, but friends will probably be able to tell something's up pretty quickly. Especially if one or two result in her coming home a bit roughed up
