See, I'd love for kiddo to join and be on a competitive team like I was years ago, but they need coaches first. No coach, no team.
And I was a team leader the year we were state champs back in high school (it was senior me and 4 freshmen), so I have at least some experience.
But it's a big commitment and IDK if I can without overscheduling myself...
oof it sounds exciting but daunting D:
but (especially if you can get time/energy commitment advice from someone who is a coach currently) I'd think you're the best one to gauge if it's the way to go
I loved doing DI, and I'm sure Adrian would too.
I do have the option of insisting on a co/coach, which would probably help. But coordinating a group of 9/10/11-year-olds....
Also, it kind of depends on the Long-Term Problem the kids pick, because there are traditionally 6 categories to choose from that haven't changed a lot over the years.
Like. There was always the "build a car" one, and an improv one, one that was mostly theatrical (the one I always voted for), one involving a balsa wood structure, etc.
But I have no way of knowing what the kids would pick until AFTER committing to lead a team.
ahaha that's a thing yeah...
Because the kids are supposed to be the ones doing all the work with minimal adult interference.
And while I have fewer objections to DI than Cub Scouts, I again run into the issue of "I intended to sign up my KID, not both of us."
And there's the space issue. Especially as competition season gets close, there are often additional meetings at the coach's/team members' houses, and... IDK how my folks would feel about that...
