HELP ITS TOO CUTE FOR LIFE
also omg it's so nice to have superman art that doesn't make me ugggggh
he's cute! huge eyes and adorable.
AND A SUPERWONDER BROFIST!
Lois is his mom and it is super cute as well
ALSO LOOK WHOS BACK
omg I'm so happy that happened
puppy!
I am seriously dead of cute
What was the bat mom crack about?
they were in Batman's base on the moon
and Lois, trying to defend her kid, crawled into one of the Batmecha suits up there
...it was mildly epic; lemme see if I can find a screenshot
KICKS FEET ALSO JON IS SO CUTE
miyou has the 100 page son of superman special but she left is at my house and i read it all the time it's so gufjjfhfj
also Clark with Jon is literally the most adorable and I diiiiie
Oh my god
Where did Jon come from, how did this happen
I was so attached to...I think his name was Chris? Back in the day
When he was still bitty, anyway
with_discipline: basically, during Convergence Clark and a pregnant Lois got mixed up in things
Lois gave birth in Thomas Wayne's batcave
annnd then they ended up in the nu52 universe
and they've been covert being awesome taking care of threats that they're aware of that the 'new kids' don't know about
and then Everything Happened with nu52 Superman
So it's like a mashup of preboot and reboot characters?
and Clark stepped up to the plate to take his place
though apparently he's not entirely dead? It's weird
BUT YES that's preboot Superman and Lois and their bitty half-kryptonian adorabibble
and he just introduced Jon to the the other two of the Trinity this issue
Jon's going to have a book with Damian
They are legit doing the Supersons
I MISS TIM INTERACTING WITH TINIES OKAYHE WAS GREAT WITH CHRIS AND SELINA'S KID AND
I seem fated to be the crotchety old woman mumbling about her lawn and the old days
But this really is adorable, thank you for the scans :3
there will no doubt be more
I will one day not hate Damian so much, maybe their book will do it
I'm not the biggest Damian fan
...I totaly want to read this to watch his brain explode when faced with adorable sunshine child
if u wanna hate damian less try reading his new 52 solo it was fucking adorable
i read it before any other damian shit and i love him and i tried reading his preboot stuff and was like ????? what is this grimdark nonsense?????
a lot of my issues with him have less to do with him and more to do with... some of the writing and positioning around him?
LAUGHS yeah the whole "tim gets fired to make room for THE REAL SON" sure did also occur like oookkkkaaaayyyyyyyy
YEP THAT RIGHT THERE WAS THE SOURCE OF MY HATRED
it was just poorly handled
That was the beginning of the end for me in comics, I was so mad over what thy were saying about adoption there
so yeah, I'm thinking sunshine child
give me a little sugar to get used to the damian
Dick had his heart in the right place when taking on Damian...but it was handled really, really badly.
it's kind of how i can't quite deal with most of Injustice
because it's deeply canonically inaccurate to Superman
but there's a lot of good stuff in there?
But deeply canonically inaccurate to Superman in all ways and forms
Injustice makes me throw up my hands and go, "Well. Didio finally did it."
(puts cracked model of Hall of Justice behind Shard, so she can do the proper parody of the end of Planet of the Apes)
it's like 'but this-" and I keep going 'BUT HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT LET ME SHOW YOU WHY'
It's like me deadeying Marvel right now because Cap is apparently backing Carol? And I'm just like, "Uh...no?"
yeah, Injustice is the "...you really don't understand Superman, do you?"
(Also, I'm pretty sure Injustice is just about character assassination all around. Except for a very select few.)
swings around wildly and cries
Well, you know, I generally assume that Dan DiDio has no idea how to work with superheroic women at all, so I actually am unsurprised about her in Injustice.
This is the man who, we remember, suggested it was totally logical that Diana would decide that the only way to stop Max Lord was to give his head a 180 degree twist
ugggggggggggggggggggggggh.
i'm not into injustice because it just seems unfun but as far as it not being canon i mostly am like okay cool this is just some other unrelated superman with no actual connection with the real one, got it
so when you expect nothing but the worst, it's not like you can be surprised when he goes for it
LIKE IF YOU'RE TRYING TO SAY "THIS IS WHAT SUPERMAN WOULD HAVE DONE UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES" YOU'RE JUST WRONG
NECROFANTASIA: there is a reason I'm playing the normal!Clark from the other universe who literally just walked into that burning universe of Why with pizza and started screaming
SO YOU CAN JUST SAY "HE HAS THE SAME NAME AND FACE AND POWERS BUT OTHERWISE IS IN NO WAY SIMILAR TO THIS SHIT"
15 minutes late with starbucks like
hey guys what's going oHHHHHHHHH MY GOD WHAT'S
....and yes, they are very very wrong. Very Very Wrong. Very Wrong. Much Wrong. Wrong all the Time. Emperor Joker and Manchester Black can tell you how wrong.
circumstances change how people act, for sure
honestly tho i think if you want to have a bad au superman you're better off changing something drastic in his childhood
Even a Clark raised on APOKALIPS ended up a good guy
where a Clark would literally bore holes through Captain Marvel's head with heat vision
I can go as far as Justice Lords with him doing it to Doomsday. But BILLY BATSON?!?!
i mean to some extent at that point it's like, what, other than powers and name and face, does this person have in common with actual clark. and if the answer is "literally not a single thing" then like
okay???????? "people's personalities would be so different as to be unreecognizable if small changes were made" is an interesting thesis i guess
but other series have done it so much better
Back in the Armageddon 2000 days, they had an issue where Clark ends up beating Hal and taking the ring, because Hal doesn't think Clark should have run for (and won the race for) being President.
a Guardian arrives and basically tells him "well, you're worthy of the ring and Hal Jordan exceeded his mandate, so..." and Clark goes "no, that would make me way too powerful, here it is back."
(later, Lex Luthor, who is basically crazy-go-nuts homeless guy gets the last of the kryptonite he can find and tries to assassinate SuperPrez like Hinkley tried Reagan
...and while a secret service agent takes the bullet and dies, Clark... does not kill Lex for it, but let him be arrested and tried.)
(it's later noted he signed an executive order that he is not allowed to take action in any Luthor-related legal motions, as he states he does not feel he could be impartial.)
I can like darker/different Supermans.
like. I actually DO LIKE Hernan Guerra and think he's interesting
but Injustice makes me want to shake my fist at the sky
also shake everyone who thinks it's 'brilliant'
I went to a meeting and came back to superman killing Bully Batson
Injustice: Gods Among Us which was a DC fighting game by the Mortal Kombat folks
and it's a good game, fun to play
but the plot makes my head explode
and there's a companion comic
which also makes my head explode
it's totally it's own continuity
but it utterly doesn't understand half the characters
it did understand that flying types are weak against rock tho, with dick
and yes, at one point, Evil Superman kills Billy Batson for insubordination via heat vision to the face
Hal Jordan is a yellow lantern
Diana Totally Goes Along With World Domination via Superman.
and you know, World Domination Via Superman exists ever outside of Red Son.
I mean. I'm laughing. But rude.
listen, i will stop making "dick grayson got killed by a rock" jokes when i am dead, and not a moment before
let's be real. Dick Grayson got killed by the fact they would have had to create a third faction beyond Evil Superman and Rebel Batman
namely the 'Clark Would Never Do This Let's Find The Evil Puppet Masters And Beat Them Up With Quippy Dialogue;
and admit that Dick got off easy by Not Being Involved
right like dick grayson could not exist in injustice world because he would have fixed it
possibly by just saying '...GUYS." over and over again at both of them until one of them just admitted he was right
What is....what is. What.
I also reject a world where Dick dies and Tim doesn't go FUCKING NUTS
He fell and hit his head on a rock
We actually played with that idea once in a sort of musebox game I was in.
Oh my god wait I remember this
I remember hearing about this I think I blocked it out
I maintain that the Titans Tomorrow timeline happened because Dick was supposed to die in Infinite Crisis
The idea was that something that protected the worlds got broken and the pieces were thrown to various universes and our characters had to go and find the pieces
And one of the worlds was Injustice world
Especially since Titans East telling Tim that Dick and Kory were off somewhere together sounded a bit like oh don't worry Timmy they're...at a farm....upstate...
Ahahah that sounds like a fun premise!
I was playing Dick and he spent a LOT of time making frowny faces at Bruce. Because Bruce had what they were looking for and had hidden it away so that they'd help.
Dick had a LOT to say about the fact that Bruce didn't have to do that because...it's Dick. He could hardly see that world and not help.
Sadly, we never got to finish the plot.
But the first world they were pulled into was one that gave everybody powers.
Dick's power? Was the ability to fall from great heights and not be harmed.
damian sort of accidentally got dick killed by a rock, which excuses damian finally accepting his true form becoming evil
damian is the only one in injustice who goes evil who actually makes sense, since damian is pure bullshit anyway
allo, you! It was not a proper random discussion of comics without you
i've been out all day x_x
i like injustice but i fully accept it's entirely hinged on bullshit characterization, i think i'm just numb to it because suffering bs characterization is the mo with batman for the past 15 years
so i'm a but like EEEYY AN ENTIRE BOOK WITH BRUCE BEING REASONABLY IC FOR THE SITUATION, WORKING WITH CONSTANTINE, CATWOMAN BEING ON HIS TEAM???? SOLD
I know there are things in there
I'm going to buy the second one
and play the crap out of it
like I played the first one
yeah as far as pure gameplay goes the new game looks fuckin sick
I literally own three copies of the first
the original, the PS Vita, and the Steam version for my computer
...which I figure gives me due rights to bitch about what it does to Superman but THERE WE ARE
Bruce is gonna adopt that kid so hard
And of course he will. Jon has black hair and blue eyes.
jon hits on my issues w/ damian a little
i like the idea but it's very "we're gonna ignore clark's shitty treatment of kon i guess"
shove all the adoptee/not-nuclear family kids out the window
at the moment, I don't even know where Con IS and they did WEIRD things with him in nu52
so I don't know what they're doing so I'm kind of waiting to see how that shakes ut
since I don't know that current Supes even knows that there IS a Con in this world
...Superman's kind of a tub of confused at the moment
i just hate the narrative implications a lot
it actually bothers me less?
partially because to some degree, Clark's relationship with Kon has always been awkward and weird no matter the version
the thing with Damian was a lot of 'let's shove aside years of very close relationships for this new person because blood relation'
Kon has a blood relation. That's actually where a lot of the awkwardness came from.
so I'm not saying shoving Kon somewhere isn't shitty. I just don't... see how it reflects on Jon as much?
or I don't feel it that way
