Everyone assumes that the Rhaeger theory is now proven, but what if the show runners and/or GRRM decides to throw us a curve ball?

I think because she told Ned that if Robert found out, he'd kill the baby. If the baby were his, why would do that?

Probably for the same reason that Rikon didn't zigzag...to further the plot.
