in other news, I'd like to do a study into how much people here spend on getting the right change for exact change buses.

or how much time they spend going to get it. or even how much it might improve your mental arithmetic skills.

I'm one of those people who, if the total for something is $4.36 and I'm paying in cash, will dig around in the wallet to find the .36 so that I can either pay exact, or get an even numbers of dollars back.

I'm quite happy to pay exact. but the buses where there is literally no change are starting to do my nut in.

I will also do calculations and use pennies to get back useful coins, like quarters.

I've paid 2 quid for a 1.60 fare because I haven't got the right change and it's too much of a pain to go to the shop.
