sore. Yesterday we planted strawberries in pots, potatoes in tires (easy harvesting), and tilled up another section of yard for more garden.

We always do fruits/veggies, but this year it seems more like a victory garden than ever before. Are you planting this year?

How do tires work for things like tomatoes and carrots? Do you have to till the earth under them?

: I've never done tomatoes and carrots. I guess it would be like container gardening. Potatoes go so deep. We learned that you can

stack a few tires and fill with dirt then plant the eyes on top. Then to harvest, you just knock the tires over instead of digging.

I do not think we would do potatoes otherwise.

Hubby thinks I am silly, but I painted the tires to look like a mound of flowers from a distance.

I try plants on the deck but the stinking rotten squirrel gets all the veggies

: We have lots of squirrels, too. Hubby rigged old CDs to spin on strings and also set up a couple of iridescent streamers to crackle

seems to keep them away and super cheap. Birds, too.
