Also the school labs have settled enough that I'm all caught up on work!
Summer finale opinions first.
Mr. Robot: Declined steadily in the back half of the season, finale a complete mess. Killed my enthusiasm for a second series. I probably won't watch unless I hear they improved in their treatment of women.
Hannibal: Mentioned this here before I believe, but the finale was fucking incredible. Romantic hero/villain double suicides don't show up in tv enough.
Rick & Morty: Finally went full Venture Brothers and burned everything down just in time for a 18+ month hiatus.
Also: What is Adult Swim's business model any more? Do they actually have new shows on a regular basis? I know they do good numbers for the timeslot/demo but it's still mysterious.
I mean, they have two shows named "Infomercials" and "Off The Air" so it is possibly they are now just an art film company at this point.
"Too Many Cooks" is from Infomercials. It loses some of its impact when it's online with a progress bar at the bottom instead of dropped unlabeled into the late night airways.
Gravity Falls: Looks like it is ending this season. Probably for the best. Dragging out mythology heavy shows never has good results.
Maybe they can do like, a chanukah special sometime later. Check in on everyone.
Official fandom fighting stances: Ford is a jerk, Mabel is a precious child who didn't deserve this, if the jerk even starts to be mean to her Stan better punch him in the face.
I hope Ford fans can learn to take it down a couple notches in time for the next episode. Guy is a fun character and I enjoy him as well, but he's a dick.
Sure, Dipper is a special person Ford wants to mentor now, but Ford probably ditch him the second he became inconvenient. See also: Fiddleford. I saw you editing those flashbacks Ford.
Tale of Two Stans: Fiddleford just abandoned my really important project but I didn't need him anyway!
Last Mabelcorn: Well all these mistakes were Bill's fault, not mine, Fiddleford will tell you, can't you see me cradling him in my arms in the flashback? I didn't yell at him. We're friends. I'm a good person.
No Ford. Back away from impressionable children.
I'm so very here for Bill and Stan having a bunch of weird creepy parallels in speech/mannerism
Steven Universe: So Pearl was basically a slave. Yes, more about her shameful past please.
Week behind at the moment, but I am still very unhappy with Peridot's redemption involving making her tiny and adorable.
I can't believe that people are still trying to say that fandom considering Jasper the worst, most irredeemable villain isn't hugely influenced by her large & butch appearance.
Steven Universe fandom, why must you always be the worst?
Star Wars Rebels: Also behind on this. Didn't realize it was back until I saw it mentioned on the AV Club's What's On Tonight.
I always check those too get the Jeopardy news from the comments.
Flash: This week had half of Firestorm drawing a diagram of parallel worlds to explain to Killer Frost, Vibe, and Barry Allen Flash how Jay Garrick Flash was now also on the show
And then they cut over to the other world, which they actually for real called "Earth 2" on tv to show that the guy who was killed and replaced by the Reverse Flash in this world
(for 10 years before being erased from existence in the season one finale because his ancestor was killed in the present so he was never born in the 23rd century)
was still alive over in that world (or it might have been a third world, can't rule that out)and saying normal sentences in a really sinister tone because they know how to cater to the audience.
Next week Golden Glider recruits the good guys to help her track down her brother, Captain Cold, who is working with their asshole dad but one or both of them are probably double/triple crossing everyone.
Later this season! Wally West and Jesse Chambers. I don't know if they can fit both of them getting powers in time for a midseason finale, but I have faith.
Arrow: Thea is the best. Laurel is continuing her upward trend from back half of last season. Sara is back next week. They let Ollie drop the flashback wig. Everything is wonderful.
iZombie: everything is terrible for everyone forever but also Major most of all.
I real want to know about Ravi and Major's first conversation after last season's finale was like.
"In my defense, I wanted to stop gaslighting you like a month ago?"
I ttly agree with ur assessment of mr. robot. started out so gr8, then pfffffzzzzzz
also I know jack has talked about writing essays about SU's reaction to jasper be4, re: butchness
well u probably already knew that b/c I think she's talked about it on tumblr (which I've stopped checking since summer tho)
I have definitely complained with her on twitter. I'm too exhausted to even consider doing so on tumblr.
I've been working on paring my follow list down lately but it keeps growing when I find a new weird porn genre.
Mr. Robot so completely fucked up the landing. Good god.
Shayla's death was bullshit enough, but then the cheating asshole had to be the brave one standing up Elliot instead of his therapist, and then Swedish dude murdered a woman
and they still spent the finale running around trying to find him because he was so complicated and interesting. Also Fight Club reveal. Snore forever.
It started out interesting but turned into damaged manpain bullshit at the end.
word. I may check out s2 when it airs but if it isn't better right away I'll prolly quit it
HOW CAN PEOPLE BLAME MABLE JFC
and yep, I am totally agreed about Jasper and the dumb standards which make her "totally irredeemable" (doesn't help at ALL that she is my goddamn fave)
I think a lot of Dipper fans project their issues with their siblings onto Mabel and exaggerate her teasing while ignoring how he teases her as well.
