when someone sends you feedback and says "I create some mesh as well and I know it'll be pretty easy to fix." (unsure)

We aren't talking about an error here, or a mistake. We're talking about the way I joined the objects. One part she would like to adjust isn't adjustable separately.

people used to do that with sculpts too, and probably prims (I never built that way). They love to tell you what they would have done differently. Like it's helpful. I don't know what that's about.
Renee Harvy says

so rude to identify something that was a construction choice as a mistake that could be "easy to fix".

the thing is I DID test it the way she wanted it! and it just made modifying it so complex that your average user would end up with a broken item if they tried.

textures would get screwy (you can't move parts that have shadows under them!) moving that one part would mean needing to line up another set of parts juuuuuust right, etc.
just ely says

and i could totally handle it if she just said "i like your item but bc of this, I can't mod it the way I want...is it possible to change it?"
just ely says

but don't tell me it's a quick fix. not only is a "quick" fix in this world about an hour from when i open Blender until I upload...
just ely says

after my quick change, would someone like to upload and add all the scripts and repack everything for me? switch out items in my inventory server? etc. all the little things.
Renee Harvy says
yep. That's it. The assumption that you did something out of ignorance, instead of because you worked hard on it, and that was the best of the alternatives.
Renee Harvy says

depending on what kind of mood I'm in, sometimes I'll start explaining to them, at length... at very boring and technical length, why I did what I did. Usually after a few walls of text they leave you alone.
just ely says

yeah, im replying with an explanation bc i don't want her to think i just didn't think about it or dont care...i actually tested this issue.

but its going to take all of my self-control to not go off about how telling someone that an hour or more worth of work is a "quick fix" is really fucking condescending.

it might be a quick fix for a personal item, but we're talking products here, and it's such much extra work turning random thing into a sellable product
/usr/sbin/ennui

also, i hate it when people assume you made things this or that way because you didn't know better or are lazy

there's ALWAYS many factors to balance, and no matter how i make things, there will ALWAYS be someone who would've been better served by a different option
/usr/sbin/ennui

doesn't mean i didn't consider it.
Renee Harvy says

yes. It's that balance people are so myopic about. They only know what would make the product ideal for them. They don't stop to think that they don't represent everyone, or even "most" customers. There are
just ely says

yeah like, i testing this thing ad nauseam trying to figure out the best way to connect all the parts both for scripting and sizing purposes.
Renee Harvy says

so many variables in avatars within SL. It's not possible to make everything perfect for everyone.
Renee Harvy says
and then, right. Throw in things like scripting for resize or recolor or movement or appearance, and you have a whole other world of compromises and complexity. It's annoying when people who have no idea
Renee Harvy says
about it want to tell you how you "did it wrong".
just ely says

i laugh bc i made it with round tushes in mind, skinny tushes won't be a great fit...but she says the design is a "problem for people with slightly rounder butts". No, you obviously have a great big butt...
just ely says

which is ok, but i can't accommodate everyone.

I have been encountering LOTS Of this which is super mind boggling. "Well why doesn't this thing do this and this" me: because it doesn't? "Well I think it should" me:......

There are some people in SL you can never please because they take joy in being difficult, best just to let them get on with it
Sachiv says

When you make something you made it the you did, there is no reason for a redesign, that's how you made it, your way
Sachiv says

A LOT of people in SL have no idea how complex it is to get them good looking content
Sachiv says

They think we all flick a hand and it's done

sachiv: and even when it's "done" it's not done! there's so much to it.
