but no, actual advice: since display names can change whenever people want them to, try to learn their account names instead

then when you see a name you don't recognize, you can hover over it and look at the URL it links to and go, 'oh, this is so and so'

it was better when plurk listed your nickname in the hover menu

for the life of me, i can't figure out why they removed that

you can hover and see their username. then you could click the little dropdown box and tell you their nickname. now it just shows display name, and user name.

Yeah they basically removed the "real name" functionality altogether

I don't know why they even still have that field

My account name still contains part of my real name because I don't post anything overly sensitive here. And I don't care if people know my real name.
