though perhaps I should try others?

well, you do have to have it on hand for comparison still, but yes!

for a spectrum of comparison, I would suggest Basil Haydens, Buffalo Trace, Jack Daniels, and Woodford Reserve.
And then, invite me over.

mmm...bourbon...
Shteevie says

for mixers, I suggest the following: the hottest ginger ale you can find, unfiltered apple cider, hot water with honey, cinnamon, and lemon, and vanilla ice cream & milk.

also, if you like beer, get a nut brown ale or a malty beer like a maibock or dunkelweiss, and try sipping the bourbon alongside.

Ooh! Solid idea

done hot water with honey, etc. Basically a hot toddy with bourbon, yeah? Sometimes tea is subbed for the hot water.

nut brown ale + bourbon sounds delightful. (Browns are my fave beer). The cider mention reminded me of this interesting treat: Woodchuck Private Reserve Barrel Select is back

Tea hot toddy... sounds kind of awesome

I stole the idea from a friend, but love it. It's genius on a cold winter night or when you are feeling under the weather. TOTALLY MEDICINAL.
