she wanted me to come up with a quick start for a game called Leviathan: the Tempest.
it's another World of Darkness game, basically you are a half human, half divine eldritch sea monster
it's all about themes of change and control with undertones of puberty and family issues
basically abbies ideal game
So for the game's plot and genre she's asked for, 1: pick from the following list of roles: Burglar, Street Tough, Smuggler, Cracker/Hacker, Confidence Artist, "Made Man", Dealer
and then a 1 phrase description of a personality
vehementRaptorial if you want in on this lovecraftian crime story, you're welcome to too
oh oh these all sound great
also do i pick my character's gender and name and such
i want to be a drug dealer
yes you can pick out: name, gender, age, short background (if you wish, otherwise it will be provided), and personal philosophy.
Alrighty I can whip up a drug dealer, now I just need some basic details and the one phrase
(also would you like to have any control over what powers you start with?)
can you give me an example of a phrase so i know what kind of thing you're looking for? also he is a boy
and you can give him whatever powers you think fit best c:
it could be how they pursue their criminal role (e.g. socially responsible dealer), their personality (bad boy who loves his mama), or what they want to do with their life (pro sandcastle builder)
i'm going to go with "deeply unimpressed young man who rolls with the punches too well but really wants to find something to care about"
"desperately searching for meaning in life"?
and got into drugs because they made him feel something and it kinda spiraled from there
alright, anything else you want to add?
how does personal philosophy work?
basically there's schools of thought on how, as a half divine sea monster half human, you can interact with the world. mechanically they offer a little extra bonus too.
I can either try to sum up the schools or link you to the page
link please! c: also his name is clifford because nobody can STOP ME from naming him after the big red dog
wiki.rpg.net/index.php/L...there's five schools in total, but if none of them fit you can also be without a school
and alright, clifford it is
(heck while you're on the page you could pick what strain of sea monster you want to be if you want)
Abyss! and I'll pick a sea monster
also are we all parts of cults then?
alright, Abyss it is!
nope, the mind warping effects of leviathans don't work on their kin, and you definitely are a part of their big fucked up family. if anything you could become leaders of cults.
i'm just mildly confused by this wiki page that implies the schools are like... actual schools
do all these choices work together for a character who feels detached and unaffected by things, but really doesn't want to be?
I think so, the introspection of the Abyss, the size of the Bahamutan making things seem insignificant
. . . oh god i didn't even realize i'd made him giant
can i make him a redhead just so i can laugh at the clifford jokes 5ever
well not all of them our giant, it's just as often a feeling of giantness
and sure might as well. any idea what animals you're going to base your monstrous side on?
i get to pick??
absolutely! keep in mind that schools and strains influence you slightly, but you needn't stick with the norm
Bahamutans generally take after massive sealife, frequently whales
Abyss followers tend to take on aspects of deep sea life
also if it helps you decide, the story will be set in Florida
they're both causes of sea serpent myths, which i think is really cool
looks like fun ones, I can work with these
okay yay c: i have to sleep now, i'll talk to you more soon! <3
Oh! Do you know what time you're going to get here?
not quite, no. is there a time that would work best for you?
p.s. to doublecheck, what's your address?
I need to be home around 2-3 to get a package but otherwise we're good
so to be clear, that means you won't be there around 2-3?
also still want to double check if I could
