so, today is a holiday (in its old sense) in Georgia. St Barbara's day. So, before 10am, I had had two different kinds of lobiani, a whole bottle of pear lemonade, two glasses of brandy and some birthday cake.

let me point out that this was in grade 1. Their mothers had brought brandy. Because why the eff not.

this also meant I had to make a toast in Georgian. I actually managed it this time! Mostly because I know how to say happy birthday and the saint's day and thank you.

later (by which I mean before 2pm) there was more brandy and lobiani parties in grade 2 and 3. And some panduri (a georgian instrument somewhere between a guitar and balalika) from grade 12.

I taught grade 2 the hokey cokey. because... well, I'd had quite a bit of brandy by then.

also, the second kind of lobiani, achma, was made by Giorgi's mother (it was his birthday) and is a speciality of her region (adjara. The seasidey bit)

the cheesy version is far more common, and is AWESOME. the lobiani version is also surprisingly good.
