minor spoilers to tonights episode to follow
I'm not crazy about this cartoon normally. It's not bad, it just hasn't really hit me, thoigh I admit I remember thinking and acting this way as a kid (so, kudos to them for good kid characters)
And also has a character with a clear anxiety disorder, that isn't sugar coated and shown to struggle with it (even if unstated)
who has been suspected to have two mothers as parents.
Now, as someone with two mothers as parents growing up with no representation in the media aside from Heather Has Two Mommies
I was kinda hoping, but not fully caring because
Eh, the show's just okay, not really following it or anything
AND THEN THIS EPISODE TODAY
ITS CONFIRMED THAT JEFF, A MAIN CHARACTER
IN MOST OF THE EPISODES I HAVE SEEN
ONE OF THE BEST FRIENDS TO TITULAR CHARACTER
it wasn't a "You have lesbian parents WAHHHH" episode
The episode treated his alternative family as completely normal
no special time put out to explain "Sometimes women love other women," No
it's shown as completely normal and no big deal
They have speaking roles, and instead of dwelling on it, they show his parents, and then MOVE ON WITH THE PLOT
I have ot watch the episode to be sure
As a polysexual genderqueer individual with homosexual parents
I never fucking get media representation. AND NOW I DO. At least slightly
AND HOPEFULLY THIS ONE WILL STAY ON THE AIR UNLIKE SOME SHOWS
