My boss did once say to us that he encouraged us to create our own projects (LOL) So now I have to make a presentation in hopes of convincing me of letting me be.

His possible Return of Investment (ROI) would be that, if I'm successful and gain a decent following, his company can leverage the fanbase for ad space. Sort of backhanded since I really don't want to abuse

I don't want to be paid for it. At least not yet. I just don't want to be told that what I'm doing is a distraction. If I can convince the boss just to let me be for a suggested amount of months, given free
