His possible Return of Investment (ROI) would be that, if I'm successful and gain a decent following, his company can leverage the fanbase for ad space. Sort of backhanded since I really don't want to abuse

any loyal fanbase for adspace. But I really want to convince people of this project.

I don't want to be paid for it. At least not yet. I just don't want to be told that what I'm doing is a distraction. If I can convince the boss just to let me be for a suggested amount of months, given free

reign of a projectwhile still prioritising workI might get to a decent following, a readership that I can appreciate. I just want my damn free time to do stuff I like.
