Both, though I've nver been fully sure what Yuletide is exactly. XD (I've just always been too :x to actually ask about it)

yuletide is a small fandoms fanfic exchange that takes place over roughly september to new year's, fics due before christmas

it is old and venerable and kind of big by now, but by kind of big i mean a few thousand or so, not thousands upon thousands

yule swaps is the brainchild of sitting in yulechat and talking about candy around the world, and then someone else going "we should totally arange that" and me, who shouldda known better, going "i'll help!"

and then, book and drinks added on in roughly the same fashion

we get about 100 signups per swap by now on average, and pepole get candy and it's gr8
