I/We plan on being really active mods, since I'm mostly a tabletop guy and so my default expectations are a lot of interaction with the dudes running a game, at least as much as there is with the other players.

Not that that'll be the case with Echoes, but it'll probably happen more than usual. Especially interactions with the world.

Everything is mutable, everything can be fiddled with, everything can be investigated, taken apart, and put back together.

as far as apps go, all you have to worry about is selling your character to us

just make sure you read the app faq page and ask if you have any questions!

so your FAQ says some things like vending machines are hackable... if the character I wanted to app can interface with machines, would that work?

Maybe. It depends on the particular thing. With the vending machines in particular, they are analogue technology, so if said character's abilities require a digital interface, they would be incompatible.
