Why do people stock up on bread and milk before a storm? Wat.

When we flooded a few years ago, the roads were cut and that meant no fresh food coming into the region. Stocking up turned out to be smart - we didn't run out until the roads were cleared.

Ditto cyclones when we lived up north, it could take a few days for the stores to re-open. So, for breakfast, were we'd usually have toast, having no bread = no toast. Cereal? Cool, if you only had some milk...

We get floods and natural disasters a lot here. I guess I just don't get it because I don't drink milk? Hah! But if I'm going to stock up for a long haul of not getting to the store, it would be can goods.

I was thinking about winter. If it's as bad as it was last year I should stock up now for things later. I was trapped at home for 2 weeks at a time with every storm, but I hate frozen bread!

Frozen bread sucks monkey balls, I agree. It's pretty much only good for toast. Or toasted sandwiches.

If it were just me, I'd be fine with tinned spaghetti. The kiddo, though.. that makes it a bit more complicated.
