I don't know much about this, but I have been in the same boat.

People have recommended tuning options, so whatever viewer you end up with, the settings might be most important.

when i was on my bad laptop, i used catznip but a lot of people say firestorm is best

I usually use Firestorm. It can be rough on my laptop.

But there are a bunch of settings (which I don't fully understand) that can make it less painful
