beta testing should start "soon" if they're going for a final release in 2016. I really don't know what to expect yet, if it's going to be a new and improved version or something different
I have a fairly unpopular opinion. Live in the NOW. Buy land if it makes you happy right now. Enjoy your clothes and possessions... NOW. In two years, a lot may change, but will you have had two years of fun?
Also unpopular: I can't see the point in dragging old objects to a new grid. Fresh start! We've had this grid for ELEVEN YEARS. In virtual-years, that's like 12 centuries. Forward, ho!

I'd also be cautious if buying land, agreed. I rent a third of a little island in the Blake Sea, and it feels like I'm spending the right amount to equal my contentment.
