I doubt most care about such things, but distant FM stations are coming in on the car radio this afternoon. 2 from New Mexico, 1 from El Paso, TX, one from PHOENIX, AZ!! , all to Springfield, MO

I love that stuff! Occasionally we get a Boston talk radio channel, here in Mid Michigan.

I got one more, this time at the grocery store parking lot, apparently Billings, Montana!

Often this time of year brings such oddities...I think this phenomenon is called e-skip.

I recall we always called it skip.

Just to clarify - are you sure these are all FM? AM is the most common to skip.

These are all FM stations. AM is more of a sunset to sunrise activity. Usually 100 miles or so is the range of FM, and AM during the day, depending on the power of the station and atmospheric conditions.
