Hey, Plurk. It's been a few days. RL stuff, comboed with a Smallville marathon run = one busy Nate.

And on that note, I'm going to indulge a hobby I rarely get to explore anymore: the good old-fashioned fandom rant. Warning: Smallville spoilers ahead.

So after realizing that Davis Bloome is here to stay, I went ahead and watched all of Season 8 in a single sitting for canon refreshing purposes. It's the first time I've watched it all in one go.

The experience made me kind of click to why Davis is sticking so well and at the same time made me realize why I never got into Smallville in the first place.

Smallville, or at least Season 8 of it, is just not very well written.

Okay. I know the Superman mythology has had heavy Judeo-Christian elements in it from the beginning, but Smallville practically beats you over the head with a Bible in every other episode.

It's like, okay, Clark = Jesus. I can buy into the idea of that, even if it doesn't bear especially close scrutiny, but DAVIS IS NOT JUDAS. Not literally and not even metaphorically.

Jesus and Judas did not FIGHT TO THE DEATH IN THE BURNING RUINS OF JERUSALEM.

Lex is very obviously Clark's Judas, if he even needs a Judas at all. Which I maintain he doesn't, but whatever.

If anything, Michael and Lucifer would be a better comparison for Clark and Davis if you absolutely have to make it Biblical, except whoops, Supernatural was already doing that.

Seriously, what is it with the CW and bludgeoning viewers with religious themes?
