The First Lady used them. She thought she was very modern
They were all the rage. There's lots of things that people used to do that seem ridic these days. Even just between me being a kid (mid 80s) and now. I think it's interesting! I used to loved hearing
About this load stuff from my great gramma before she passed.
When I was a kid in the 70s, we envied kids whose parents had estate cars/station wagons and could ride in the windowed boot/trunk area. Scary by modern standards... >.<
When I was little, my sisters and I used to sit on the door of the car when the window was rolled down. Mom would only let us do it when she was going about 5 mph on backroads.... but still. Lol
Like this...
My little brother used to stand between our parents car seats so he could see out of the windscreen/shield. He'd be told off and told to sit down...and then get back up later when he was bored again.
i used to love doing that
and i have pictures of myself as a toddler with my arm draped over his shoulder, around his neck standing beside my grampa while he was driving his truck
i turned out okay...mostly
I once rode in my best friend's brother's work van. No room left in front so I sat on the spare tyre in the back. I'm not sure my parents would've approved!
