Long story short - he went crazy and had to be put to sleep. So I don't remember if I posted about this online or not, but he kind of lost it when I moved. Or that's what I thought, thinking back on

it now I can see that it started when Matt moved out, the move to this place just exacerbated an existing problem.

He viciously attacked me back in September. That was the first (and by far the worst)injury because I ended up in the ER, antibiotics, arm in a sling and off work for a week due to blood poisoning :\

Attacked me again later in the month. The night before I went away for a big sexy weekend, show up with my arm in bandages again :\ Another round of antibiotics for the lovely infection that came

With that. He was really good for a while after that. I should note that I tried calming collars, calming sprays, expensive foods, I spoiled that little guy rotten trying to make him stop being mean

Spoke to the vet about the aggression and maybe getting him fixed but they told me it would cost a shitton of money and not make a difference at all
Shiin

So the calming diffuser (like an air freshener wall plug except instead of scent it puts off calming cat pheromones) seemed to be working for a while I thought, bought the refills ahead of time etc

He would be super cuddly with me, but he wasn't allowed to roam the house freely because he would destroy the other cat and he wanted to attack my mom for no reason!

So like I said he was good for a while. But then he attacked me again for no reason. Nobody was around when that one happened and it was on my leg so I was able to keep it a secret. Because after the
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
second attack it was basically determined that I would not be allowed to keep him if he kept attacking me. So I didn't tell anyone and I was VERY lucky that it didn't get infected like the first two
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
These are nasty, vicious bites btw, he didn't just scratch me up like cats do. The first time, one of the holes was so deep there was fat coming out of my arm
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
I have a pic of the nasty infected mess because I am a twisted soul if anyone wants to see. It's pretty gross.

Another couple of weeks of decent Foof, and then he started this new thing where he would try to bite the shit out of my ankles when I walked by
Shiin

Two days before he went to the vet he attacked me again, unprovoked as usual. It wasn't a really bad one this time and it was on the same arm as the first two so I could pass those marks off as being
Shiin

from being part of the original set, so I managed to keep that one to myself...
But then the next night, he came after me again

Got me good again

At this point I'm fucking terrified to go near the companion that I loved and cared for for 7 years
Shiin

I started looking into shelters because everyone was around for the last attack and even I agreed that I can't live in constant fear of my own pet. I did EVERYTHING I could up to this point to
Shiin

try to calm him down and make his life more comfortable and I still loved and snuggled him like nothing happened. But he just wasn't the same cat anymore. It was like someone flipped a switch in his
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
little brain one day and made him crazy and vicious. He wasn't safe to be around, I was worried he would hurt my family and I was scared for the next time he would inevitably hurt me again
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
I looked at shelters because I felt so HORRIBLE about what I had to do and I was in baaaad denial. Like I hadn't lost enough last year. But I honestly wouldn't have wished him on anyone at that point
Shiin

He was dangerous. Anyway I had things all lined up for him to go to the humane society, but talked to the vet again first. He advised me (and rightly so) that you can't in good conscience take a
Shiin

knowingly vicious animal to a shelter. Basically what would happen there is they would keep him in a cage for 3 days, assess him for adoption, and then put him down anyway because his temperament
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
is NOT suited for adoption. So in the end, it was what was best for him too, he didn't have to suffer in a confined space for a few days before the same thing happened anyway. I felt like the worst

person on the face of the earth.

Anyway, that's the long and short of it. I miss him terribly, he was such a special boy. But a lot of the qualities that made him awesome vanished with this personality change
Oh my God. I wonder what happened. You seriously needed to be on that show My Cat from Hell. Where a guy comes in and helps troubled cats
I wanted to know the details, but didn't want to pry. Cause I know what it feels like to put a pet down. It's so hard. The vet never had
Any information? And how was nudering him expensive!? It's so much easier to do on male cats then females. And It's so basic. It should
Have helped a little. Cats who move and feel insecure act out in this way. Losing one owner and then moving. Having the other cats
There and then having to be kept away from people are all signs that a cat feels insecure. But then again, Maybe it was just something
In his brain. My friends cat is crazy and has real bad anxiety cause my friend moves around so much. I'm so Sorry you had to do that with
Him. And It's so crazy to hear. Cause he was such a snugglebutt.
Holy shit.
I remember you posting the goodbye Foof picture and I was wondering what happened, but I didn't want to pry.
That's so heartbreaking. Our family cat is only a couple years older then him and I can't imagine having to go through that.
It makes me want to huggle him and never let go.
I hope you're doing okay.

Getting him fixed would have cost a lot more money because of his age - the procedure itself costs about average, but then there's also the cost of anesthetic, and because he was over 6 he
Shiin

Was considered a 'senior' cat and they had a mandatory panel of bloodwork that needs to be done for a cat that age before they even consider doing any surgery
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
Plus his shots need to be up to date
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
And it wouldn't have helped his aggression at all because that wasn't caused by having in-tact testicles, it was just something I thought might help and they told me it really wouldn't
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
The thing is, he went crazy before we moved to the house
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
I tried everything I could but it's hard to fix a problem when your kitty can't tell you what's wrong and even then, there's no guarantee of fixing it. But when you get to a point where the cat is
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
NOT safe for anyone to be around and is constantly (and viciously) attacking the person he loved the most, it's a serious problem
Shiin
shares 10 years ago
I miss him a whole lot. It was hard but the fact that he'd lost his entire Foof personality made it a little easier. Honestly at that time, he was not the same cat he'd once been
Awwwwww Ok. I'm so Sorry hon. I have never heard of that before. Poor thing. It's hard to do that with any animal. I dread it.
OH my goodness. that is so awful. it's like the super crazy hyped of version of what happened to Dizzy once we got Felix
He wouldn't attack unprovoked but he would growl at everyone. Normally he NEVER ever growls. like.. i had never even heard him growl before until we got the kitten. (okay maybe once or twice but only at the vet
I am so incredibly sorry. I didn't want to pry and make you spill all this because it's so painful but I am grateful that you shared it with us. he was such a sweetheart. It's so sad that he had to go that way
but I totally understand. We were considering giving Felix away a few months ago because he was making dizzy so crazy (and well dizzy was here first) and Felix pounces on the kids randomly (for fun)
but eventually as he got older he's calmed down a LOT and they can even be in the same room together.
Felix scratched me recently when I was picking him up to take him out of our bedroom one night,he scratched me really badly on my right hand and it got infected.I'm on antibiotics now too x_x silly kitties
Poor foofkins. i hope he's chilled out in kitty heaven now ;_;
Kittens are such a nightmare XD I'm sure he'll settle down eventually, you have to be as patient and eventually they'll learn.
Clipping claws helps with bad scratches!
Yep! They hate it, but the more you do it, the more they calm down and deal with you doing it and don't try to kill you. They will always
Hate it tho. Lol. But It's better then scratches and infections.
Hm i've never done it. I'll have to ask the vet to show me how. it's SO rare that he scratches now though, only if i'm trying to pick him up when he's scared
and yeah DEFINITELY better than this shit!
It's super easy kiner, I would seriously give it some thought and it'll be much easier if you start when he's young. Just the front ones! And with young kids around, probably wouldn't hurt
And thanks Kim
It was really just the shit icing on my shit year, like 3 days before xmas. But my whole family was around which was nice, helped distract me from the whole ordeal
I don't think supervising your kid and dog together is paranoid at all, especially because Tonks is so huge and Finn is small! Lol it just sounds responsible to me.
