gotten some sad news from vet - Oldest Kitty is hyperthyroid, which is not a surprise, but means now we have to do kitty medicine twice daily.

At least it's treatable! There is the possibility of surgery later down the road for a permanent fix, bur for now, we're just going to do the meds to get him back to his fat little self.

one of my old cats had that and a heart murmur. He was on thyroid meds for almost 2 yrs. he plumped back up from them and did well until he got sick with his heart issues

(LOL) Sammy used to fake swallow the pill and then spit it out. He never was good with taking meds.

calicokitty6: My little old man has a murmur too! I'm looking forward to him plumping back up.

calicokitty6: Luckily, there's a pharmacy in town that specializes in compounding vet meds - they make them chicken and fish flavors so it's way easier to give!! had to use that service with another kitty.

We buy the pill pockets that they make. Most cats will eat them...at least until they find that pill once... Then the trick is over! (LOL)

we have a place that makes vet meds too. They weren't around when I had to get Sammy's meds. He was on a human med. Regular pharm filled it with "Sam the cat" for the first name. :-)
