had not been expecting someone to approach him and he inwardly tenses glancing over his shoulder at the man. "Ja, you could say that." He lies, he was so used to it now especially since he and Gilbert had to
pulls his arm back as he gives him a strange look. "There's a fault in the piping of some of these buildings that I'm looking for specifically." He does note the odd accent but then again he's accent isn't too
him a weary look. "You can say a little bit of both."
this man is very odd. "If you're interested in this type of career I would advise speaking to an academic institute. So if you could be on your way, I have work I need to finish."
steps back from the building to get a better look of Alfred. "What do you know of these buildings?" He asks stressing the do. Any piece of information could help.
glances at the second one his attention caught. "Haunted..." He says contemplating the word and storing it for later. "Do you know what kind of hauntings?"
looks very pensive as he takes it in. It's clear he's storing it for later. "Have you seen anything?"
him a mildly sympathetic look. "It's not for everyone."
shakes his head. "Not at all. I wish I didn't know about it." It would have saved his brother and him from such a life.
smiles sadly. "I can't make guarantees but I should thank you for the information nonetheless."
shakes his hand firmly noting the shockingly blue eyes. He'd never seen that on anyone. He's a little taken back. "Ah...ja, I'll remember that. Danke."
studies him again and nods. "I'll remember that for sure. It's always good to have someone who is so well informed."
that's an odd place to work for someone who claims their the local historian. "How long did you say you lived here for? I'm Ludwig by the way."
watches him count awkwardly and decides that maybe he's just not good at math. "Have you thought about taking classes?"
shakes his head. "Not at all. You never know what may happen. If I had a chance I'd definitely go back."
had nearly forgotten he had told him that lie. "Ah, ja...and now I'm very involved in the family business."
smiles lightly. "I do...ja, it can be. It can also be very difficult as well."
amazed at how vibrant this man is. He wonders if he should be suspicious. "I have one older brother. We're just here for little while."
doesn't know how to take it but smiles back. "I'll be here for a few months but I don't think anything more than that. I'd have to consult my brother."
grows silent at that. He'd never really had a friend before, it was such a foreign concept. "Ah...danke." There was a small flush on his cheeks as he tried to process what had just occurred but it didn't fit
into any of the boxes of experiences his brain was used too.
a feeling that he doesn't have a very hard time making friends. "It's a good quality." He grunts turning around to try and quell his flush.
glances over his shoulder. Gott, his ears had just turned red and he tries to discreetly cover them. "Are you sure it's not too much trouble?"
if that means he's not very good at cooking but he could use the company since he wasn't sure where his brother had made off too. "Ja, well, if you insist. I can help you if you want to return the favour."
actually. "Ja, my brother has the car. Is it far?"
glances over at it and decides it won't hurt to trust him. "Lead the way."
gets into the car. "Baked potato sounds great actually." Maybe he was a little more hungry than he had anticipated.
notices this and is glad for that. Driving was one thing that he was really strict about but Gilbert didn't seem to care. "What kind of cheese?"
shakes his head. "No, no, that's perfect."
studies the house before unbuckling his seat belt and slipping out. "Nice house. Did you make it yourself?"
nods. "Very nice reminds me of something but I can't quite put my thumb on it."
enters and finds the strange set up. He's decided it's not worth judging him because who was he really to judge. He was just as odd especially with his occupation. "You have lots of interests." He comments as
the man is very optimistic. He follows him to the kitchen. "I think people are cruel and fall into evil very easily." He decides to share.
he's surrounded by too much bad sometimes. "That's probably a good thing to focus on. It keeps you high spirited." Which was not what he could say about himself.
's expression perks at the word. "Ah...ja, if that's not too much trouble."
glances at the bottle and takes a sip, it wasn't bad. "Where do you store your potatoes?"
goes over and opens the door and finds the box that he was talking about before pulling it out and bringing it to the table. "Did you want me to make yours as well?"
grabs to large potatoes and goes off to wash them before he starts preparing them. "Could you heat up the oven to 280 degrees Celsius."
isn't sure how to answer that properly. "I'd like to cook often. I don't always get the chance."
laughs at the idea of Gilbert cooking. "No, Gilbert doesn't cook. I'm sure if he tried he might be able too but he doesn't."
makes a displeased look. "I like to think that it's not always the case....but a good majority of the time...ja."
knows there's never enough time for anything. "No, I prefer a home cooked meal. Not with our lifestyle no." He has the potatoes in the oven now.
takes a seat and concentrates on his beer. "They are. I remember having them when I was really young but after that. Few and far between."
tenses but he figured it must have been mildly obvious. "Actually, I never got to know them."
's lips are thin at that. "I still have Gilbert...that's really all that matters now."
pulls out the potatoes and decides to fix them up with sour cream and the whole nine yards. He flushes lightly at the special comment but he couldn't deny it wasn't ture.
smiles lightly. "I should be thanking you. You did invite me for a meal."
that's true. He sets one baked potato in front of Alfred and the other where he assumed he would be sitting. "Anything else we're missing?"
takes a seat and glances down and starts cutting into his steak. He pops a piece into his mouth and chews on it slowly trying to figure out the foreign taste. He chews on it for a very long time unsure how he
wants to be polite. "Ah, no just interesting taste." He tries the vegetables but they seem to have the same seasoning as the steak.
couldn't say it was bad but nor could he say he particularly liked it either. It was neutral, and so he slowly worked on it saving the baked potato for last.
finally finishes his food and gently places the fork on the plate before he sees what Alfred is bringing over. "Dessert too?" That seemed like such a foreign concept to him.
shakes his head. "The ice cream is more than I expected. This will be fine." He assures.
smiles lightly at that. "You're very happy." He comments.
shakes his head. "Not at all. It's nice to see." It was almost like Gilbert and he loved in perpetual darkness.
wonders when that will be. "That may be the case Alfred but it doesn't shine very often in my direction."
smiles lightly. "Very kind of you."
lets the other drag him as he pulls on his shoes and follows him out. "For what?"
flushes at the statement as he follows him. He still looks quite serious but it's clear he's curious.
tenses becoming even more suspicious. He was scared to trust him but he slowly draws closer. "Where are we going?" His voice is terse.
isn't scared of the ATV but of the possibility of what Alfred could do to him if he catches Ludwig off guard. "I'd feel more comfortable if we walked and you walked in front of me the entire time."
slowly relaxes as they arrive at the field and his breath is taken away by the sight. It was untouched by humans. "How did you find this place?"
nods and takes a seat beside him. "It's definitely a good finding." He was much mroe relaxed. He wasn't sure why he was suspicious of Alfred when the man clearly didn't give off any signs of being hostile.
doesn't tear his gaze from it. "It's so peaceful...it's really quite amazing."
if he would mind if he came here alone when he needed reprieve from the stresses of his job or if Gilbert was out for a few days. "If it weren't so cloudy there would be a clear view of the sky."
finally tears his gaze from the field to glance at him. "I'd like that. I might actually stay and watch the sky tonight..." He wasn't about to go back to an empty hotel room.
freezes, his entire body going tense at what Alfred had just said. He should be embarrassed but he can't because he knows now that there is something definitely strange with this entire situation. "....how do
you know I can't sleep by myself?"
's brows knit together and his lip thins. He wasn't panicking just yet but there was really something abnormal about Alfred. "Nein. I didn't." He says in a low voice.
noticing this panic and is torn between feeling pity for him or remaining suspicious just in case this was an act. "What are you exactly?" He still sounded displeased and his entire demeanor radiated anger.
seen some incredibly fucked up things in his life this did not compare. He was really trying to calm himself. the knowledge that he was a cultural scientist rather than a threat was mildly reassuring but he
wasn't sure if he could believe him. "How do I know you're not lying?" The antenna' were interesting.
watches the antenna curiously. He's starting to come down from his anger. "Mind reading...you have telepathy." That explained it. "What else did you read off of me." He was worried again.
grows silent taking this in. It was a lot of information and he'd never met an alien before.
studies the hand for a good while and it almost seems as if he's just going to let it hang there but at the last minute he reaches up and grasps it. He wants to believe that Alfred is still good.
's eyes widen at what he is experiencing he can't quite let go of Alfred's hand and a part of him doesn't want too either.
hums back in reply before gently pulling his hand away and settling down contemplatively. "I can't even describe what I just felt."
knows that that had calmed him down even more. "Why did you pick this place of all places?"
had thought it was a nice size when he had arrived as well. "I see." He replies softly. He'll never be surprised by anything ever again he decides.
glances at him giving him a serious look. "Ja, it's not fun."
's lips crack into a small smile. He was feeling a lot better now that he knew he wasn't going to be eaten or tortured. "Why are you so afraid?"
has to deal with the angry and vengeful supernatural entities on a regular basis. "It's not for everyone."
doesn't meet his gaze. "Because if my brother and I don't...who will?"
nods, he's not sure what Alfred could do for them but he'd keep it in mind. "Don't feel bad if you want to go home and sleep." He says softly. "I'll be fine."
glances up at him. "It's not that simple but thank you." He needs physical contact or he panics.
flushes deeply at the kiss. This man was like a child in innocence and in the way he took people in to show them kindness. He nods swallowing hard. "Thank you Alfred. I really do appreciate
