Music is usually a very engaging thing to me. I get sucked into the beats, even in classical. But there is some orchestral music I can ...

... relax to. Bethoven, Brahms, are the ones I can think of off hand that has music I can relax too, but it would take some searching...

I guess there is a difference between relaxing and calming... Classical is usually relaxing to me, and the subset I was talking about is...

I use music to lift up mostly. I would have to go through my library to find something "relaxing".

I think w/ most composers it would depend on the piece! I doubt any opening mvmnts of Beethoven string qusrtets are 'relaxing'!

Yeah, I am not looking for anything particularly "calming", something that engages my mind while I do work is great.

Classical has the best chance of doing that, but sometimes the variations between one piece and the other can be distracting for me.

I am not sure what you mean by 'relaxing', I guess
Kimberley

Perhaps you're looking more for "chill out" music?
BluePhoenix

True, I guess relaxing is ambiguous in this case. Something that I can listen to and it will keep my brain from wandering off when I work
BluePhoenix

or that would keep my brain from thinking of thousands of thoughts (about the same thing) for hours.
