kept up close with him, going through his mind to see if he had anything that could be traded with...
turned to look over his shoulder at the other. "If we make it there before dark we might even get a bed. If you have anything decent to trade, that is."
huffs. "I'm a scananger. What do ye think?" He mostly didn't want to risk showing what he had to anyone, in case they tried to steal it from him.
rolled his eyes. "Fine. Whatever. You don't have to get aggressive about it. It was merely a suggestion."
mumbled quietly. "I can sleep on the ground just fine. Beds are too expensive everywhere."
didn't hear what the other said exactly, and kept on walking in silence, asking himself (yet again) why he even agreed to the other joining him in the first place.
wasn't joining him. He was just walking the same place. He doubted he'd find anything he wanted in the trading city anyways.
got to the trading city just before the sky completely blackened, and started searching through the stalls, looking for any cans of food, and stall merchants who would trade cheaply.
slowly walked around, barely paying attention to anything that was around. His mind was too distracted to focus.
managed to trade a couple cans of fruit in syrup for a pair of extra boots he'd traded at the last town, but found out rubbed uncomfortably on his feet, and got a fresh bun of bread for a pair of clean socks.
looked at some stuff but most of it he'd just toss back and eventually just went to try and find an area that would be safe for sleeping. He wasn't in much of a social mood today.
tried to find a hostel of any sorts in the town, but despite the size of it, didn't find any. He sighed to himself before making his way to the outskirts, trying to find a place to sleep.
didn't trust places like this to sleep anyways, since people could steal anything while you're asleep. He just found an abandoned and run down shed to sneak into.
knew that scavengers would still be lurking in the outskirts, despite the miliatia around, so decided to find the most run down place he could find, hoping the scavengers wouldn't look for people there.
didn't think he should think so little of him. Though, scavengers were generally stupid. Except himself.
found a shed almost right on the border of the city, and looked around the area slowly before sneaking in, hoping no one else was in there. He froze upon seeing the messy haired blond from before there and
groaned outloud. Why the fuck was it he was constantly running into this guy?
had his guard down and startled when the other entered the shed, rubbing his eyes and quickly holding a knife out. "What the fuck are ye doin' here?"
took a step back holding his hands up when he saw the knife. "Woah calm down. I thought this place was empty, entschuldigung. I will just leave again."
huffs and slowly put the blade back in his belt. "Nej, this might work for the better. We can sleep in shifts."
raises his eyebrow at the other. "I don't even know your name, and you are asking me to take watch whilst you sleep?"
shrugged as he made some room, keeping close to his bag. "Let
's just say tonight I'm feelin' lucky."
glares at him. "Are ye gonna wanna sleep here or do I have to chase ye off before someone else finds my sleepin' aread?"
rolls his eyes. "Fine, I will sleep here. But only because I am too tired to look for somewhere else."
nods a bit as he turned his back to the other. "Whatever." He didn't like the thought of sharing the space with him, but he was too tired to care anymore.
tucked his pack into a corner of the shed and sat down in front of it, leaning back against it. "Who takes first watch then?"
shrugs. "I can. I'll just sit here and watch ye sleep."
rolls his eyes, before sliding further down on the floor of the shed, using his pack as a sort of pillow. "Because that is totally not creepy or anything."
leaned back, picking dirt from under his nails. "Just shut up and go to sleep."
closed his eyes and snuggled down a bit. "Trying to."
mumbled quietly as he crossed his arms and looked at the ground.
tried to sleep, but felt too restless. He hadn't really done anything that day, not in comparison to some of the stuff he'd been doing lately, and he just needed to blow off some steam like he'd used to do with
video games. But of course, there weren't any video games anymore, they were just a distant memory. So all he could do was fidget, find a new position, and hope that it would help him sleep better. It didn't.
groans. "Stop movin' an just go to sleep already."
huffed in response. "What do you think I am fucking trying to do?"
mumbled again, kicking some dirt around lightly before being bit by a mosquito and killing it. "There's no difference between mosquitoes and German's..."
perked up at that, rolling over to glance up at the other. "What did you just say?"
rolls his eyes. "It's a joke. What's the difference between a German and a mosquito?" He didn't know why he was telling the other this, it was only really a Danish and Dutch joke.
sat up and looked at the other incredilously. "... Mosquitos are only annoying in the summer."
slowly looked towards the other, eyes narrowed. "... How did ye know?" He was surprised to say the least.
furrowed his brow as he watched the other. "My friend-- the Danish guy I know. We used to play video games together... he told me that joke when we first started playing. He thought it was so fucking funny..."
tried to hold it together before he burst out laughing. "Because it is so fuckin' funny! Whoever doesn't laugh at it has no sense of humour!" His attitude seemed to have changed dramatically all of a sudden.
eyes widened slightly as he began to recognise the laugh that he had heard so many times through his headphones when back in Germany. "You have to be fucking kidding me.!
shakes his head as he shifted and sat on his knees to look more at the other. "Nej, okay, I must have lost it now. Are ye serious?" There was clear excitment in his tone.
nodded, his mouth open in pure surprise slightly as he looked at the other, not knowing exactly what to say.
pretty much jumped him and got his head in a headlock, giving him a noogie. "I can't believe I see ye now out of all times, over_all."
started laughing and half heartedly wrestling the other off. "I knew your personality reminded me of someone, Mein Gott"
ruffled his hair normally after before letting go of him. "Yer voice sounds a bit different from online, but it sounded familiar."
chuckles at that and straightens up, grinning at the other. "I didn't recognise yours. Not without you screaming like a girl constantly."
rolls his eyes. "I'm not good when I'm surprised, ye know that. Why do ye think I yelled when I bumped into ye a few days ago?"
laughed. "I guess I should have known then already, huh?" He lifts a hand a ruffles the other's hair. "You were not kidding about the flyaway hair, were you?"
laughs and shakes his head. "Nej. My hair is always unrulely. Even if I brush it, two seconds later, this." He looked the other over and shook his head. "Fanden, ye're so German."
chuckles again, brushing his hair back from where the Dane had messed it up. "What do you mean by that?"
shrugs. "Broad shoulders, blond hair, blue eyes, hair slicked back and ye've got a square head."
laughed and whacked out after the other, trying to scuff him over the back of his head. "And you're not the epitome of a Dane then or what?"
shakes his head. "Nej, of course not. The only Danish part of me is bein' able to speak Danish."
raised an eyebrow. "Really? Mister well tanned blue eyes blond hair? Is that really true?"
sticks his tongue out. "That has nothin' to do with Danishness."
laughed again. "But my blue eyes, blond hair and then way I style it does?"
nods. "Totally. Ye don't look like a gamer, either. Nothin' like what I thought."
shrugged. "I do not know if I can say the same for you... To be honest, I can't remember what I thought you looked like."
shrugs. "Well, this is me. Nothin' special."
smiled weakly at the other. "I wouldn't say that."
smiles a bit before scratching the back of his head. "Hey, listen... sorry 'bout treatin' ye like an ass. I've just not been able to trust anyone since the whole outbreak."
shook his head. "IIt's totally understandable. I was the same, but my personality has always been like that. Yours, I can only guess, did a complete 1-80."
nods. "I've not had anyone to talk to in a while, so I got a bit secluded. And as ye know, I need to be social. If I on't get that attention I just go ma."
chuckles. "Then I better keep you company from now on then, shouldn't I?"
smiles. "Ye think I'd let ye outta my sight now that I know ye're alive and exist?"
shrugged. "You never know."
shaks his head. "We're gonna travel together. Two heads is better than one, eh? Besides, we can help each other find our brothers."
nodded and smiled up at the other. "Deal."
got comfortable, looking in his pack for something. "Ye gotta blanket to keep ye warm?"
leaned back against his pack and shook his head. "Nein. That is one of the things I don't have... have you had anything to eat tonight?"
shakes his head as he pulled out his blanket for them to share. "I only have stale bread and stuff I don't want to eat..." He sighed as he got close to the other and put the blanket around them.
smiled at the other, before reaching into the top of his pack and grabbing the bun he'd bought earlier, wripping it in two and handing half to the other. "Here."
smiles. "Ye sure...? I can hold off for a day."
nods. "I have plenty more. And you must be hungry if you tried to steal from me... so here."
took it and started eating. "Tak..." He hadn't been the luckiest with food, since the most he scavenged was for his own uses.
smiled, taking a small bite of his own. "No problem."
quietly nibbled away at his piece, wiggling a bit out of happiness.
chuckled when he noticed the other squirming. "You really are restless, did you know that?"
shrugs. "I live life like I game. I take risks, even if they're unnecessary."
looks over at the other. "This isn't a game though... if you die you don't respawn."
nods at that. "I know. I try not to think of it that way, or else I might lose focus. If I keep in the mindset, I just feel I can do anythin'. Besides, I've not been hurt yet."
frowns but doesn't say anything, burrowing himself down under the blanket a bit more. "Are you still going to take the first watch then?"
nods. "Ja. I just wanna keep warm. S'not fun tryin' to keep myself warm and losin' sleep over it."
hums as he finishes the last of his bread, before turning over and closing his eyes feeling a lot more tired than he had previously.
smiled a little as he looked over to the other, feeling happy he found a friend. He looked around keeping a close ear out for anyone that could get close.
fell into a light sleep pretty easily, dreaming of nothing in particular, but always with a small smile on his lips.
finally looked away from the other, sighing happily. He felt a bit comfortable now... what a time to run into a friend.
