I'll be moving away from Firestorm. I just realized the latest version is a system hog. Perhaps you should try other viewers too, to see if there wouldn't be another one you can use?

What it turns out is that Linux Mint's forum people lack imagination. They also aren't as fortunate as OpenSUSE Linux users, as the latter gets a special install from Dolphin

Running that just may solve the problem I was seeing, as it adds codecs that I'd otherwise have to find and install manually.
