So far kirk's castile soap looks the best and can be used on dishes and laundry but I'll have to test it out.
And apparently it's $1 at Walgreens (yuck but no other place sells it for a buck)
For stuff like raw meat grease and stuff, several places say use hydrogen peroxide but hm. I dunno. :S
Also ((((tmi)))) but I've stopped using shampoo and body soap for the past week and tbh I don't notice that much of a difference
All I do is go under really warm water in the shower and scrub with a wetted (not soaped) loofah and it does the job well.
I'm doin all this for two reasons, 1. to see if it'll help my dermatitis get better even a little bit, and 2. to save money bc we are v poor
I'm hoping that I can find a way to eat better that doesn't involve dumpster diving or stealing lol neither of which I can or want to do
And of course it's hard to eat healthy &inexpensive. Everyone who tells me otherwise lists stores that are only in certain states (not mine)
Or tells me to grow my own food (not possible at the place we're renting rn)
Oh if you want to try bathing w/o soap and shampoo I'd suggest just starting with not using shampoo first instead of going all out like me
I still use hand soap and deodorant if I need it ofc but like, our bodies don't naturally need shampoo and body soap, right??
And it seems like it's no different than using nothing but water and a scrubber
Idk this is only the second shower I've taken where I didn't use anything but water and a loofah so who knows
I might become greasier as my body tries to get used to it & then it balances itself out, or I might just be greasier and it only gets worse
Like the only bad side is my face hasn't gotten used to not using soap along w it not being used to my hair not using shampoo
So I am starting to get acne. I'll experiment some more until I find what will work for me
Weirdly enough I haven't had BO like at all, since I still bathe regularly. Then again I don't lead a particularly active lifestyle
Could be a combo of thing giving me acne though, like I have a shit diet, my sheets are dirty & need to go in the laundry
And all that on top of my experiment might be too much for my skin to handle (my skin is really sensitive unfortunately)
Good luck D: I hope your experiments work out well for you.
Thanks! I hope so too. Or at least SOMETHING to work...
It's not an easy path, but you seem determined : )
Honestly I thought it would be harder than I thought, but it's not so different. My feels just as clean & my acne is already going away
I did a lot of hard work today outside in 80 degree weather, planting veggies and flowers, and I don't smell or look gross at all
according to my family haha
My hair feels soft as opposed to feeling greasy or wiry, and seriously no one has noticed that I haven't been using anything when showering
And I had a real stressful day yesterday with my therapist and even then I haven't had any problems, hygiene-wise
I'm sorry you had a stressful day : ( But it's good that your skin and hair have been holding up : )
Oh! Your mention of working outside in the sun made me remember- when I was in basic training in the Air Force, my complexion had never been better.
My skin was so clear, and I'm sure it was because I was marching around in the sun and drinking a loooot of water.
Yeah! That makes sense!! (And thanks ;w; it worked out in the end because it was a misunderstanding with my insurance)
My acne went away even though it's only been a few days, maybe my skin is used to it already? Oh well, my face is clear and my hair is soft!
Not oily but actually soft as if I put on conditioner kind of soft
