I get what this is trying to say, for the most part, but I'm also concerned by the underlying hint that a girl has to play like a duuuuude in order to be a "legit" gaming girl.
Yes I recognize that girl on the right. That used to be several parts me... But not all girls play like that, and not all girls who play like that are by default even good players.

True.
although I do yell like that after a while of playing But yeah. Who knows, the girly player could actually be really good.
And vice-versa. There are feminine chicks who play nice and still win.
Oops sorry I didn't see Kuri's comment before I hit post on that last one.
Iz kay |Dc tho, I did originally agree because the tone of the girl on the left is like pushing it in people's face that she is a gamer.
But yes I don't want to get all sexism-sucks on a message that meant well, but this isn't helping girls who want to play games their own way.
This reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend re: gaming and girls and oft invalid stereotypes.
Yeah! I get the image of the left. That's more modeling/posing than actual playing. I just have concerns with the one on the right.

I think this image could be much more correct if they didn't make the girl who plays video games so
masculine.
Or more like adhering to masculine stereotypes.
That, and idk. Some people don't seem to believe that it's not just boys who play games?
i usually just say gamers, or gaming girls, or girls who happen to be playing games as their hobby/passion
Hell, Lea Salonga is a gamer!
but yes i'm on a major caffeine rush so i hope my ramblings made some sense
I'm feminine but I scream likea guy. does that count joke
I pretty much act like that girl on the right but i fucking suck anyway LOL
Also the "girl that plays video games" is misogynistic.
Also the "girl that plays video games" is misogynistic.
that's why i didn't say "play like a guy" because i don't want to stereotype guys either. but since i'm out of braincells i just said "duuuude"
I SHOULD BE POINTING OUT STUFF WHILE I'M MORE AWAKE AND LESS DISTRACTED BY JEWEL MANIA
raccoondog Yessssss let's crash some unfortunate net cafe and start screaming like banshees
I'm neither of the two. I'm usually quiet whenever I play, except for the occasional "SHIT! WAH! OMG! NOOOOOOOO" but yeah, ang extreme naman kasi ng examples. hindi ba puwedeng simpleng "gamer" lang ang tawag?
basically: let boys and girls and other animals play however they want to play as long as it doesn't hurt anyone
i don't get the need to set these standards of what a "proper gamer/fan" is and what isn't.
gamers//painters/music-fans/bibliophiles, etc. all these weird standards. just let people like what they like and do what they do
^Ignore/block said person?
as much as i sympathize, enforcing standards on other people's hobbies/activities is not the proper response. XD
I concur with everything you said. These "standards" posts are really pissing me off - from this story, to "where have all the 'real men/women' gone".
