A major relic of Saint Mary Magdalen, on veneration today. The church was crowded.
Tomorrow the relic goes to the new Dominican priory here.
Thanks... and we know when she died and where she was buried?
Tradition says in Gaul, where she was a missionary.
That's a long way for a woman to travel alone (with no husband or family) And a missionary?
The Roman empire allowed for relatively safe traveling, considering that they executed pirates and brigands. However, I have no idea if she went alone or not.
I thought she looked familiar. They were here in 2011.
Perhaps I should have spent more time there, since they had lots of exhibits, and they also had a little kiosk that sold appropriate items. A French priest was there too, wearing Dominican robes.
Fortunately, the relic will be moved to the new Dominican priory today, and I will try to visit her there.
We had her here because our director-at-the-time was Dominican and we could put her (and her carriers) up in our spare apartment.
