I used to be a total skin junkie, but lately I have had a hard time getting really excited about skins. There's a few brands I follow pretty closely and tend to love their releases, but there's so much out

there now that is template-based or just so-so.

I haven't been to skin fair yet though, so I can't really speak as to what's there

I was looking over ElyHynes pintrest board... I think she's collected quite a few of the announcements there

I went and bought one just to have for different pics

well, I think looking at my avatar, it's pretty much guaranteed that I'm not "the market" but... I dunno.. I don't wanna sound too cruel, but what doesn't look like something I've seen a few dozen times...

before, looks like it would have a much nicer home on the marketplace. Sounds bad, I know... but I'm really tired right now and hard to impress I suppose. lol

I can't get into the Skin Fair group, there was no join button for me

Maybe because they're not advancing much anymore? I have my fingers crossed for material shaders to be allowed on skins, so we can get some nice normal and specular maps to take it to the next level.

I haven't been yet, but I know for sure that I would love, love, love to walk into skin fair and find a bunch of really unique and interesting skins. I mean, i want snake people and middle aged women and

crazy klingon heads and anything else you can think of for some weird creature to have for skin... and I know that what I will PROBABLY find is barbie. Lots and lots of barbie. So, yeah. Disappointing.

I am so bummed lately that I can't seem to find any skins for women that really look mature, without looking like a granny. There just aren't very many on the market.

You'd think by now someone would at least do some good tattoo crow's feet or something, but not really. No.

Any skin I will seriously even look at twice has to have 'flaws' of some kind. Freckles, moles, pores, whatever. Anything to make it more real and lest idealized. Too smooth just looks phony to me.....

I've found some like this for my female alt with Mynerva. Male skins seem to be far more realistic than female ones I find.

Yeah, there's a decent amount of salt and pepper men's skins, older men, bald men. Not so much for women.

hahah glad this got more replies while I was sleeping! And that I'm not the only one. Now that I'm better rested, I can say that there ARE some that look very nice. I"m not dissing the entire field.

DamienFate it's not eve a technology advancement issue... it's a style issue. And to tie it in with thaumata , yeah.. seems like people just play it safe. "This look sells, lets do more of it"

And I shouldn't diss the ones that aren't quite at full potential either... everyone has to start somewhere, and everyone deserves a chance to show off their work. As a whole though, I'm glad it's not MY field.
