i just read a section on how to follow directions

IT IS A SIX STEP PROCESS ???????

So you have to follow the directions for following directions? What's next? Directions on a matchbook?

Step 1: Read directions
Step 2: Do what the directions say, in order
Step 3: Repeat as necessary.

1. Read directions from beginning to end

2. Study any accompanying pictoral aids

3. Re-read directions, visualizing each step

4. Take note of key words such as "then", "next", "finally", etc. to determine the order in which the directions should be carried out

5. Re-read the directions

6. Carry out the steps

This is paraphrased from my textbook like i'm not even kidding.

This is MAYBE if you're trying to assemble a car from scratch or something. Unless you're Jeremy Clarkson, in which it's "Step 1: Get a hammer. Step 2: Hammer shit together until they work."

Seriously, this is like "Measure thrice, cut once... maybe."

yeah like i can see for smth super complicated, but not for EVERY set of directions. ugh.
