May have none left... But if they tested mitochondrial DNA, yes, that would be conclusive.

They are a bit overly dramatic in saying that they were lucky to find someone as the line was going extinct, though. There were traces of mitochondiral DNA found in prehistoric skelettons... Certainly if the

line had gone extinct, they could have asked for the exhumation of one suitable descendant, and compared with that!
