So yesterday was fun. I didn't feel any different; just a little on the cuter side. Liked finally trying out a hijab

The waiter that served me at a Vietnamese restaurant said it looked nice. Other than that no comments

It does look nice! I wish I had known about this before the day was over, it's such a nice idea

Had lunch with my mom and two "aunts" - all devout Christians

That was fun in a way lmao

sometimesamuse: I think yesterday was the first year they put World Hijab Day into effect. I hope it continues to gain traction next year

I've put it in my phone as a reminder for next year, so I hope so too!

So the lunch. My mom said absolutely nothing about my hijab when she saw it. Only started saying things when my aunts asked about it

My mom was like "make sure you only wear it today, today only"

And my mom was concerned about my (COUGH) Christian faith, so she was like "you know what the Truth is, right? the One Truth?"

I was like "Don't you? You've known it longer than I have" etc etc deflecting stuff

One of my aunts mentioned extremist [Muslims] and I tried to turn it around saying all religions had their crazies, i.e. dem extremist Christians

Aside from the potential awkward throughout that hangout it was a great day

i'm intending to do this next year.

I encourage it! I'll try and remember to remind the plurk friends ahead of time next year
