sigh Yeah didn't get the job I was emailed about. Dude later sent me an email with "We need someone with more experience." Well why did you email me in the first place?

Job searches are like that. Both parties are looking for "the one." You will find the right thing. Don't give up.

My problem is that I'm in that mid-range of experience where I am overqualified for some jobs and under qualified for others. (annoyed)

(cozy) I never understood how someone could have "too much" much experience for a job. Regardless, you are a fantastic artist with an exceptional eye for detail. The right job will come and you'll love it

Umm....never lie. If the employer finds out after you start it is grounds for immediate dismissal. And they will tell anyone who calls them for a reference. Lying is stupid.

I had a woman apply for a job in one of my departments. She would have had to take a 50% pay cut to take it but insisted she wanted to slow her life down. I just could not hire her. She was overqualified

and I was sure she would get bored and leave. Employers hate hiring and we want someone who will stay a long time. In this market where tons of amazing people are out of work it is very hard to hire well

I know that does not help if you are looking for a job. I am just telling you how it looks from the hiring manager perspective.
