look at the Delilah texturing tutes. The videos show him working pretty fast, but he has some pdfs that show some of the settings he uses

Its a good place to start. There aren't barely any Bodypaint tutorials anywhere

you could also search the SL forums. Robin Sojourner prepped some avatars for BP. She may have a few tips somewhere
