When was it decided to close the game? what's going on?
oh
well I can say that it's nice that they're at least giving us an end game, not just closing it done instantly
i thought we all voted for it to stay open
I'm sure the mods will discuss why they've chosen to close it if people ask in the post
but i'll be honest, right now i feel really let down and no one is answering.
give them a second, they just put the post up silly
...huh. Yeah; /also curious.
the fact that it's just gone up is why i was expecting people to be around to talk about it
but i don't know what the point in us voting was if they were just going to close it anyway.
If the problem was activity wasn't as high as it used to be, why not compensate with a slightly lower AC and a slower metaplot? :|a
because at that point they wanted to give keeping the game open a try if we wanted to continue? idk maybe they've just lost the will to mod it and don't want to drag it through the mud slogging like the game
particularly given that it's the festive season and lots of people are busy because of that
idk if that's why, but I'm just saying, give them a second to explain themselves
...Slowing down =/= slogging through the mud. :/
I didn't mean the game was right now
Also, it's been twenty minutes.
i could accept the losing the will to mod it thing if we hadn't just had that vote.
I just meant that they could have kept trying to mod when they didn't want to but instead of trying to force it and bringing the game down because of it that they're doing this
basically they let us all say that we wanted to keep playing, and decided to shut it down anyway. so fuck whatever we want. that's how i feel about this.
and i'm trying to not be upset about it but, yeah. that's how i feel.
Yeah, I'm... Kind of lost, too. I thought Abax was doing okay. :|a
and I'm not a mod so I don't know what's actually going on I'm just trying to not freak out and jump on the mods about this when they could have a good reason for this
It just seems so completely out of the blue is what's upsetting.
even if we might not like it, if they have sound reasoning for it, I'm not going to get mad at them for it
There was no explanation in the announcement, just, "Hey, it's closing in February!"
and yeah, i mean, i'm trying not to be upset as well maus. that's why i asked that question. it doesn't exactly help that they seem to have posted that up and then left it
just because they don't instantly get to it doesn't mean they've abandoned it, they could be discussing how to properly answer things
Also, I'm not mad. I'm baffled.
I'd want to word stuff right in a time like this
people are going to be upset and wanting answers
if they say the smallest wrong thing it could set off tempers and have people arguing or what not
it is baffling I agree, but we'll see what's going on when they answer
They're claiming time management issues for the whole mod team.
...Meanwhile, I've seen the game beginning to get back on its feet. So, yeah, gonna have to disagree there.
considering how people have reacted in the past, I can't blame them
It's basically, "We don't think we have the time. Instead of giving you options, we made the decision for you."
"And then we didn't explain any of this until an hour or two after we posted the surprise and people started asking, because... we didn't feel like it?" :/
you guys keep harping on them not replying quickly. one hour. honestly if they didn't reply until this evening or tomorrow then I'd get up in arms about it, but you guys are making a big deal about having to
wait an hour for an answer
and saying they're treating the playerbase shitty because of that small of a wait is what I meant by them taking their time to reply
The thing is, this was asked just after it was posted. It shouldn't take that long to say what they said.
you guys grab onto every thing and make big deals out of them
And even then, they should have put it in the OP in the first place.
...Sorry I want to be communicated with.
they answered you in the same day they put it up give it a rest
Then why did we have to ask why it was closing in the first place?
^This. They want to close the game? This should be an ooc post, with an explanation provided from the start.
Not a note tacked on to the end of a SotG. :/
That's why it doesn't feel like they're communicating.
It feels more like, "Here's all the usual info and OH, BY THE WAY, GAME'S CLOSING."
Which is why it's upsetting.
so then you guys would have asked why they bothered with the SotG post at all if they were going to make a OH WE'RE CLOSING POST after
Especially if they'd explained it.
Or they should have put the announcement at the top, at least, since it's a very big thing.
I agree that their reasoning for closing it could have been put in the post yes
Instead, it feels like it's tacked on. There's no explanation, just, "We're closing in February! Cheers!"
And honestly? Yeah, I'm mad right now. They don't have time? Okay. But they're taking the choice away from us. And, frankly, if I wanted a sandbox, there's quite a few already out there.
honestly I want them to give the modship to whoever wants it just so you guys can have what you want
anakha I understand the feeling, but...trust me, it wouldn't end pretty
but I wouldn't be staying if it stayed open
the game has had it's run and I honestly agree with them closing it
I would rather have a solid ending that just...slowly sinking into the bog
I honestly think it should have come to an end a lot sooner, but they damn well tried their best
for all you guys might think other wise
and I think it's great that the game is even getting an end
i think we have a right to be upset that we were asked to vote on what would happen, made that vote, and now they're doing something else.
i need to think about what i'm going to do now, i'm just very unhappy right now and i don't really want to make decisions while i'm unhappy. but i'm looking into other games, anyway.
I'm not saying you don't, I've been upset with how the games been run since way back in the ady
and I really think they tried, but when the mentality of of majority of the playerbase is to know every little detail and have every single thing run by them and if it isn't the game freaks out oocly
I know I wouldn't want to deal with that
I've pretty much stayed out of ooc posts because of this
because I've been one of the few who seems to disagree with how many people felt about things
well, i don't feel that i need to know every detail of everything, but the game closing when we voted otherwise feels like something that shouldn't have been sprung on us.
We aren't asking for that. We're asking for major things to be known and not hidden from sight, because they change the game.
I'm sorry but when every little detail of a plot has to be explained out for an event to please people then I don't see the reason to even have events any longer
we might as well as have them write the damn plot out as a story and let us read it
because that's how I've felt things have been going
We didn't ask for that. We asked for the bit about the sphinx to be announced. We asked for major changes to the way the game runs to be announced. And if you think that's asking for every tiny detail? Hahaha.
no, I don't mean just that, but also I wanted to say the way you guys reacted to that in that plurk was pretty horrible
I felt pretty bad for the Reno player
it was an honest mistake on their part
and you guys pretty much ripped them apart for it
maus, i wasn't even one of the people angry about that, but i still feel this hasn't been handled well.
I know you weren't Kerry, you were actually a voice of reason in that post
I don't think any of the frustration in that plurk was at the player. :/ People were frustrated at the mods, for not telling us when they changed the game. Again.
Not Reno-mun's responsibility, and the criticism wasn't targeted at them.
Yeah. It wasn't on Reno. It was that the mods didn't announce a very big thing that everyone should have noticed. No one was saying the outcome of the plot was bad! They just wanted it to be made clear where
and really they're not perfect, no one is, and I can understand why you guys want things how you want them, we've pretty much been conditioned to expect and want things and demand everything because of how
the mods have handled the game in the past
but I think it's just gotten ridiculous all around
...So wanting a major plot element being clarified and announced where people can see is wanting things to go exactly how we want it and demanding every little thing to go our way.
I have to respectfully disagree? I think players wanting to know the basic outline of a plot and its conclusion before they commit their characters to something
isn't asking too much. Re: that abandoned plot where the mods were asking for sign ups for "volunteers". People wanted to know what they were signing up for
and the mods said "we'll tell you later!". Sorry, but I want to know what is going to happen before I throw my character into something like that
Or at least know that, hey, this might permanently alter your character or something like that.
additionally when you don't know what you're signing them up for, you risk committing them to a situation which would be OOC for them
i had that worry about the current plot when we had to do sign ups for destroying the tree without knowing what halston would say about it.
And honestly, my main thing is this feels a bit too much like Splendor or Prom right this second. So I might bow out of conversation for the moment.
I'm bowing out as I well. I have work and I've said my share.
