O.o The sphinx was destroyed?
Saw the ooc signup, it just... didn't announce the result.
Okay, just to be clear--do characters have to lose memories?
Re: the sphinx thing... any chance we could get a clearer ooc post if something like that happens in the future? ;; I mean, knowing the museum is now free to explore would've been good, and
there wasn't much indication to anyone not in on the plot that there would be a game-changing result.
Not saying I have any problems with said result, or even with not knowing in advance. Just... would've been nice to know oocly that a game element has changed.
...sure. But if I'd wanted to thread about my character exploring the log anytime this month... I would have mentioned or included the sphinx in that.
Okay. |D Memories are just incredibly important to Sora and it's the one thing I won't do because the consequences could be... Bad for her.
Because I (and most of the game) was assuming it was still alive.
*exploring the museum; I can type, really. >.<;
...all right. To check-- it would've just been gone from in front of the museum for the last three weeks? Nothing stopping anyone from getting in?
Bearing in mind, though, there wouldn't have been any fanfare about it - the only people to know about it who weren't specifically there would be people who have gone to the museum for whatever reason.
...true. But doesn't the Sphinx usually sit outside the museum and be obvious?
Seems like something simple enough to notice when exploring, and... dunno. Seems like a character would've posted about it by now.
i was part of the sphinx log. i'm not sure that the thread is actually finished yet, i need to check
but we didn't know what would happen until it did, so that's why none of our characters would've posted about it
/nods. Plus, for those that weren't able to get in previously, a visible change would've been something they'd have wanted to explore and/or post about during the last couple weeks.
and if the thread's not finished that's possibly why reno hasn't
Yeah, but some characters go there every week (I've headcanoned this for Loki since that district came about) so knowing the Sphinx was gone would have been nice.
It's a fair point, though, as said. We will make sure to make the ooc posts for game changing events in future. Sorry for the slip up on that front.
So. Just agreeing it would have been nice to know.
well, there was reno-mun's original post so people would've seen through that that SOMETHING was happening to the sphinx.
it isn't totally out of left field, is my point.
Reno-mun did not say what was going to happen to the Sphinx.
:/ "anyone want to get CR by watching Reno mess with the sphinx" is a bit different from knowing it's destroyed.
In fact, I thought from the sound of their post that RENO was going to be the one to suffer.
so did i. i thought it would be a fight which is why i signed up
but like i said i don't think the thread is finished
they might put something up once it is.
Destruction of an NPC that was apparently indestructable is something we probably should have been told about before something like this.
It would be like destroying Byron and his casino and not telling anyone for three weeks.
Definitely would have liked to know.
Like we said, it was a slip up and we're apologising. Essentially, we didn't think.
also, i won't say that there shouldn't have been a post to announce that the sphinx was gone. there should have been, as soon as that happened in the thread
however, the first ooc post did say that something was going on with the sphinx, and the log is available for anyone to read
anyone who had an interest in the sphinx/the museum could have followed it from there
it hasn't been hidden. it just hasn't been announced, per se.
Most of the game doesn't stalk every log, particularly when there's no indication given anything will affect them. Similar with stalking other people's ooc plotting.
i'm just saying that it's there, and that it was clear from the ooc post that something would happen with the sphinx during that log.
and also, even those taking part in it didn't know exactly what would happen.
It was clear something would happen, but not that it would affect any other players besides Reno. A lot of people now have to handwave different in-game reactions they might have wanted to thread.
That said, Dara's point is pretty fair, and... not much we can do about it now.
One request for you mods-- you've acknowledged that you
*you'll try and post about things like this in the future, but is there a chance you could emphasize the change on this ooc post? Even just bolding it or something.
I could see a lot of players skimming through the post and not noticing, especially if they decide they don't have time to participate in this event.
If this is the only update we're getting about a previously-unchangeable game aspect being destroyed... would be good to make sure people don't miss it.
**indestructible NPC is set to be destroyed, that's kind of important
yeah but jason none of us knew. i was in that plot and i didn't know there were keys inside the sphinx until i read this plot
additionally, i know it was slow moving but i also didn't know it was time-sensitive / needed to be done quickly.
It's different if anyone wanted to thread things there. Or if anyone would have posted about it.
This is a game where not much changes. The death, or even just disappearance, of a major NPC, is something characters would've ICly noted and been reacting to for three weeks.
Apology is fair, not much to be done about it now. :/ I'm mainly responding to your bringing it up now as if it shouldn't have affected anything.
Now that people know it's not too late to backdate threads if anyone specially wants to, though, yeah? Lessons learned for next time and I hope not too much harm done.
Definitely - backtagging is always welcome.
offduty: +1. I didn't even know about the keys yet because it hasn't happened in the log
i was happy for it to be a surprise. i didn't know any of it would be crucial to the mod plot though, i think that's maybe where things have broken down
i hadn't mentioned anything ICly about the sphinx because i wouldn't do that until the log is finished and i knew everything that happened. i also thought thats why no OOC post had been made about it
We didn't know TO say anything. The way the original log plotting post was written, there was no indication that it would actually mean anything to people not directly participating. Which is why I ignored it
But the museum not being well utilized was because of the sphinx, I think
i think there's been a failing of communication all round
zen and i talked about the sphinxplot element of this and i put up a backdated post to at the very least address what happened ICly
i know that doesn't help OOCly though.
If forward dating is wrong, I don't want to be right - that's perfectly fine! o/
(And helps a lot, thanks for the suggestion <3)
i backdated my post a bit too. it could help from an IC perspective, anyway.
Ooh that is an elegant solution
