had been nursing a cup of coffee early in the morning as she was glancing through the paper. She greeted the other in a polite manner when she saw her entering the kitchen. " God Morgen."
blinks blearily as she spots the other, smiling at her. "Good morning miss. Would you mind if I made breakfast?" she asks, hoping that it was alright to use her kitchen.
nods as she smiled, " Go ahead. I picked up some ingredients at the general store today on the way back from my morning hunt."
smiles at this, glad she wouldn't have to dig for something now. "Thank you," she replies, turning to see if she had the makings of pancakes.
figured she wouldn't be a good host if she didn't have anything in her house. Luckily, she did manage to pick up enough ingredients for baking so pancakes were definitely possible.
smiles as she pulls out the things she needed, humming softly to herself as she started to mix things for batter. She was making sure to make enough for Dorthe too, of course.
continued to read the paper and sipped some more coffee.
wasn't very talkative in the morning, really. She continues cooking, the smell of fresh pancakes filling the air and a short stack of them quickly being finished. She didn't see any syrup, so she
mixes a small amount of sugar and cinnamon together, placing it all on the table and a plate in front of Dorthe.
just tired from hunting and would usually go right back to bed if she didn't have a guest. She blinked at the food and thanked her as she cleaned up the table to make room for the other. " It smells wonderful_
_Maddie! It's like in the kitchens back at home. The head chef's cooking was never as this though." She smiled sheepishly slightly admitting her background as high class.
wouldn't have minded if Dorthe needed more sleep, she's fairly used to being on her own after all. She smiles as she takes a seat, dishing herself out some pancakes with a sleepy smile.
"Head chef?" she asks, amazed. Dorthe must have come from a very wealthy family, then. "I'm glad you approve though eh."
nods as she set herself straight to eating. " Ja, he's a stingy kind of guy who never lets up on any criticism. My mor likes his cooking but I certainly don't." A huff came from the Dane as she nibbled happily_
_ away. " Sometimes his food is too sweet or too salty but no one ever notices because the meals are so big. I usually end up making some sort of excuse to avoid his food." She _.
_shuddered remembering the last time she had to eat that cook's food
hums softly as she pours a fair amount of sugar on her pancakes before she starts eating as well, listening quietly. "..if he was that bad, how come your family kept him around then?" she questions,
confused how he would have become head chef in the first place.
shrugs as she ate happily, " I didn't like him but my parents and the other people living in my home liked it." She sighed glad she didn't have to deal with some of the court women now.
nods at that, humming softly. "Ahh... that would be hard to have him fired then."
scratched her head. " Well, it's easy to hire another one but with the stuff happening in the capital, its better to keep him."
shrugs. "Oh... I suppose that's true. I didn't think about that." She was still young enough that she hadn't really had the concept of politics and working for a living past what the papers told her.
chuckles, " It's fine. I never like paying attention to it either but my parents and friends shove it in my face."
smiles softly, nodding a little. "Well, at least you can eat whatever you want living on your own then?"
nods in agreement. " Ja. No being nagged by old ladies caked in make up and an annoying chef that can't make a proper sandwich~" She laughs.
giggles softly, nodding in agreement. "Well there you go then~"
sipped her coffee after, " Yeah, sorry I'm putting you through these weird stories of mine. My childhood even in the capital wasn't the greatest."
shakes her head. "No no, nonsense, I don't mind hearing them at all," she smiles. "It's fun to hear what other people's lives were like."
rubbed her own neck bashfully, " Well I'm sure there are other stories other people have that are more exciting than my own."
shrugs gently. "Maybe, but that doesn't make your life less interesting eh?" she muses, munching her pancakes happily.
nods as she rested her head on her palm after placing her elbow on the table. " I guess you do have a valid point. Seriously Maddie, you're much smarter than I am."
blinks at this, laughing as she shook her head. "Nahh, not really. Just look at things a different way, I guess," she smiles sheepishly.
chuckled at that response, still finding the other smarter than herself. She sighed and leaned back in her seat after. " I think I might go rest a bit."
hums at that, nodding gently. "O-oh of course, I'm sorry if I've kept you up..."
shook her head. " Nej I just got up a bit earlier than usual."
nods a little, standing to start cleaning up her mess. "Ah, well don't let me keep you then," she smiles.
went to help her out nevertheless. " At least I'll do my fair share of work first before sleeping."
shakes her head. "You don't have to, if you're tired... I'll figure it out," she offers softly.
smiles at that and shook her head yet again. " Nej. I'll rather show you the ropes first than let you run around like a headless chicken. I'll be a terrible host." She joked lightly.
smiles at her and nods. "Thank you, then." She gathers up the plates, bringing them over to the sink.
nods as she finished helping out prior to retreating upstairs slowly. " No problem. I'll be in my room if you ever need me."
nods too putting the last thing away. "Sleep well," she smiles, waving at her as she heads off.
