Are any of you using iPad carts (not a 1:1)? How do you keep students from setting passcodes on the iPads?

We have an iPad cart for each grade level and have yet to have that happen .... we have restrictions turned on so they can't...

None of the restrictions prevent a student from entering a passcode!

hmmm.. I will check with our tech dept. In order to change anything on the iPads they have to know the restriction code...

Let me know what you find out. I just tested mine. It did not have a passcode but restrictions were on. It allowed me to set passcode w/o unlocking restrictions!

We use a cart. I'm responsible for managing it. I have not had this issue come up. Have you checked out Apple

Apple's Configuator utility. You might be able to turn it off with that.

Yes, checked out Apple but found nothing. Apple does not support the use of carts- or iPads in a non 1:1 environment. They basically told us that in person in one of our many meetings. They want 1:1 for all!

I know they don't support the carts, but they have a new utility you can download called Configurator. It's like the old iPhone configuration utility, but it's suppose to be more powerful.

I know you can turn more things off and on with it than the parental restrictions allow.
