If you squish all my shifts together in a straight line, I've only been at this new job for a week. Training as a barista in a mall location
ooo you have to tell me which mall i want to come visit
And... well, Newbies Be Slow considered, it's been great so far. Everyone I've worked with has been very helpful and supportive. No conflict
flyingbatteryzone: Kingsway Garden Mall!
I hope I'll get to see you there one day. Usually don't know what position I'm practicing until
I get there and shift supervisor tells me
Oh I need to come to Kingsway soon anyways! DON'T GET FIRED
I'm always thanking coworkers for helping me out when they or I end shift. Store Manager is amazing (and kind of reminds me of
abrupt lol)
Maybe we can hang out there together one day? I'll buy you some discounted Starbucks. I doubt I'll get fired lol FINGERS CROSSEDDDD
Work space is cramped since lol, it's located under a pair of escalators, but I like the fact that I have less space to clean.
No washrooms, no dine-in area or couches. No drive-thru to fret about.
when do you work this weekend?
THIS WEEKEND... Fri 1-5pm, Sat off, Sun 5-9 at the northside Oxford location (oh boy), Mon off.
ah damn.
I can't get to the northside location.
and i'm moving in on Friday
Sep 4 I work 8-3:30pm, Sep 6 is 1:30-10pm
Sep 8 2-7pm, and that's as far as I've been scheduled
I might be able to meet on the 8th unless we go for a day at the races
Ooh
if I get to see you that'll be cool. If not I'll keep you posted on future work shifts
please do!
because again i need to get to sephora
The lights in Sephora make me sweat whenever I go in lmao... Other than that I like looking around there
Let's see... what else about work can I ramble on about
they have a really great make up deal online, like... $300 in savings
I already bought all I need from Sephora so I can't take advantage of that
Oh yeah STARBUCKS LEGIT TAKES THEIR COFFEE SERIOUSLY. SUPER SRSLY. I learned a shitton about coffee in just a few days
I went from "fuck I can't drink coffee it's all bitter" to "oh hey I can actually like this"
and "wtf this coffee tastes like lemons and is pretty awesome"
I never knew coffee could taste like lemons
I've learned the whole Circle of Life shit for coffee, from how it's grown to how you're supposed to grind it
go online and check it, it's an amazing sale
see, i can't handle starbucks coffee.
in that even the blonde is too dark for me
Ahh lol. Have you tried the new Refresher drinks? Both the lime and berry flavors taste great. They have coffee (extract) in them oAo
i tried the berry one but it was... so so
Highest amount of caffeine you can get since the coffee is green/unroasted
I've also seen people ask for iced tea in their Refresher drinks instead of water. Never tried it myself, but I'm guessing it's tastier
I must experiment tomorrow...
i just want my chocolate mint double chip or caramel vanilla bean coffee free frapps
Also great drinks
and my cake pops!
I spent a good 4 hours yesterday just making cold beverages
I did it during a rush, too. It was... exciting. Surprisingly I wasn't stressed (too much) or miserable about it.
the best thing to do is stay calm. always.
I was always on the move. Just focused on making drinks accurately and interacting with customers in a friendly manner
There's this older lady who was new at the same time as me, Gayle. From what I keep seeing/hearing she doesn't do the calm & collected thing
as well as I do. (Kind of proud of myself dsfkjhs)
abrupt: I would let you boss me around
My manager has a face and body type similar to yours, or at least I think so. Pale skin too. IS IT ODD I NOTICE THESE THINGS...
GABBY ARE YOU NOT TELLING ME SOMETHING
So during yesterday's practice shift, Gayle was making the hot bar beverages. A few times she voiced her overwhelmed/defeated attitude
I understand practicing a new job can be tough during a rush, but don't say those things omg no don't
i see someone is not interested in keeping a job...
1) customers can hear you, 2) I'm working with you and depend on you to function!! stay alive please...
At one point she said to the shift manager, "Are you frustrated with us yet?" in a half-joking manner
WHAT IMAGE ARE YOU PROJECTING TO YOUR COWORKERS
And if the shift supervisor is frustrated of course she isn't going to tell you. She's the only experienced employee on the floor and has to
keep her composure, for our sake and the customers
And no Gayle the supervisor will not be frustrated with
me, don't drag me under your rain cloud
If I am feeling slow/inadequate I am never going to voice those feelings and just keep a positive attitude while working nonstop
Yesterday there were some moments where I noticed a long queue of drink cups, but I didn't freak out
I was just making mental notes like "oh okay gotta be extra careful now to be accurate" or "Gayle will start freaking out make room"
I sort of feel bad for disapproving of a new employee's attitude, but like... man, I'm gonna be working alongside her, you know?
I want her to do well. I do my best to be supportive of her and fill in her negativity with my own rainbows and sunshine
which I don't really want to do, but it wouldn't be productive to reaffirm her sadcat complaints or add in my own
