Right from the start Obama showed he had little understanding of how MAJOR legislation is created.
Can you think of another situation where the Executive has not presented its program for major legislation to Congress for to analyze?
The House is not set up to initiate major legislation. Even Bill Clinton went the route of organizing a medical program.
SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Civil Rights, TVA, all were initiated by the Executive. Tossing it to Congress was asking for a quagmire.
Personally, I think Obama did this so any objections were not to HIS plan - if he had one. The man washes his hands more than Macbeth's wife
Actually, Becks, Obama and the Democratic majority rammed through the stimulus, Obamacare and the Dodd-Frank financial regulation bills.
They promised that at this point, unemployment would be 5.6%. It's 8.3 and that's not counting all the underemployed and those who've just
plain given up looking for a job. Obama has added more people to the disability rolls than have found a job in the private sector.
Since passage of Obamacare, my health insurance premiums have gone UP, not down.
Incidentally, they said that if the stimulus bill was NOT passed, unemployment at this point would be 6% rather than 5.6. The Democratic
stimulus couldn't even beat the "do nothing" scenario.
When the bill was being debated, we Republicans were hopping up and down shouting "It's not going to work". It didn't.

Becks, Romney was exec of a large population state and worked well with both parties' state reps and senators.
I think Obama was executive over the stapler at his community organizer "job"
You forgot Senator from Illinois, a largely Republican state.
And a lawyer from Harvard - and President of the Harvard Law Review...nothing much
Alanna - He is a Chicago pol. If the Chicago democrat wanted a corpse to be Senator, it could be arranged.
Hilda, I am not sayinghe is stupid. He just has no idea of how major legislation is enabled.
I wonder how he managed to teach constitutional law at University of Chicago for 12 years then.
Becks and Hilda - No replies to my critique of his dumping the healthcare program to the legislature? Too hard to admit he blew it?
TreborShelman: What do you mean "dumping the health care program to legislature"? That's how it's supposed to work!
Don't you remember the School House Rock about how a bill becomes a law?
We have three branches - the President can't just make a law happen on his own. That's called a dictatorship.
And how exactly did he "blow" healthcare? It happened. It's started.
ThorntonWriter: Weren't your health care premiums going up every year before Obamacare? Mine were. Every year. But at least now I know if I
change jobs I can't be denied insurance because of my pre-existing diabetes. And my friend's son who graduated college and has to start
paying off his student loans can stay on his parents' insurance for a couple of more years.
