found baby squirrels... the mommy didn't come back to pick them... any tips?? HELP! am taking them in.

Leave them in a protected place (from cats) for a day. Sometimes mom doesn't come around because of people.

Then do a search for "wildlife rescue" organizations. They often have rehabilitation programs and may take in the squirrel.

Don't call a zoo. My neighbor works for the biggest zoo in the Chicago area and he says they throw injured squirrels in to the big cat cages

I've had baby squirrels before and had the best luck with the wildlife rescue organizations. Animal control I think destroys squirrels here

because they're often classified as "pests" due to the whole burrowing in the attic thing.

yep. He didn't agree with it, but the zoo's priorities are with the animals in the zoo, not the local squirrels.

He did point out that it's actually pretty consistent across zoos.
