just watching television. He gets up and answers the door.
looks up from where he was staring at the MacDonald's paper bag he was holding in his hands. "Good day, America. I was just doing some_
_business in your country and thought it would only be polite of me to drop a short visit." A pause. "May I come in?"
catches sight of the food immediately, "Is that for me, or were you going to eat it?"
shoved the bag into America's chest. "It's for you. O-Out of courtesy, of course..."
took the bag, looking surprised. "Thanks... uh... I guess you can come in."
nodded and stepped into the house.
closes the door behind them. "So what's up?"
didn't want to delve into the question just yet. "Do I need to have a reason for a visit?"
"Well, you haven't been around lately..."
frowned and nodded. "No, I haven't. Hence the visit."
"Okay... do you want something to drink?" he offered, heading to the kitchen.
"That would be lovely." he said, walking over to sit on the couch.
comes back with some apple juice and sits down on the other end of the sofa.
tried not to notice how purposefully America had done that. "Thank you," he said with a nod.
tilts his head and looks at him, knowing that England will speak his mind when he's ready.
took a few small gulps of the drink before setting it down on the table. He clenched his fists on his lap, having second thoughts. It was_
_a silly question and America would probably laugh at him for asking... But he had been dwelling on it, and had come all the way here..._
_"About that toy soldier..." he blurted before he could even stop himself.
blinked a little in surprise, then turned a little pink, "What about it?"
scowled and stared at his fists. There was no escape now that he had brought it up. "I thought you would have thrown them away."
(like I said...awkward...don't mind Pru, I'll share this to help add to the drama...)
(( Thank you c: Perhaps he did, we'll see how it turns out xP ))
shook his head, but oddly couldn't think of anything to say.
unnerved by the silence that followed. This was unlike America, to not be saying anything. He had been expecting America to just laugh and_
_tell him to stop thinking too much on it. He could have agreed with him that he was, and forget all about it. It was more than_
_likely - that he had been indeed thinking too much and America had left the toy soldiers somewhere and simply forgotten about them. That_
_would explain how Prussia could have gotten hold of one. Suddenly feeling very much like a fool, he finished his drink, made a show of_
_taking a quick look at his watch, and stood up. "I should probably make my leave now. Thank you for the drink."
"Wait! I did keep them... I had one on my DVD shelf... that's probably where he got it... The rest are-" He cut himself off, he suddenly_
_felt embarrassed. England probably was offended that they were still around. "I'll get rid of them if you want me to."
, for a moment there, was reminded of a younger America who would do anything just to make him stay longer. He shook his head. "No. I don't_
_mean that... It's just--... I thought you would have because back then y-you..." hated me. The Revolutionary War... War of 1812... And_
_the numerous disputes and bitterness that followed. Somehow, he couldn't bring himself to say it.
"No, I didn't." He wanted to tell him that he admired him, even when they weren't speaking to each other, but that would be too weird..._
"You came all this way, you could stay."
turned a little pink in embarrassment. "I-I didn't come all the way here. It just so happens that I was passing by."
sighs, "You're so weird sometimes!"
sat back down on the couch with a huff. "Speak for yourself!"
"I'm not weird! I'm heroic! And I just don't get why you'd come here and bring me food, ask me weird questions and then leave!" He grabbed_
_the hamburger out of the bag and started eating.
"That's because I--...!" His eyes widened and he looked away all too quickly. Where was he going with that?
"You what?" he asked with his mouth full.
"Nothing! And don't talk with your mouth full!"
"My house, I can do what I want!" He ate the rest of the burger in one bite.
looked to him with a scowl. The expression then turned into one of disgust. "You have gotten food all over your face."
looked in the bag for a napkin, but got distracted by the fries...
"Honestly! You are like a big child." he said with a huff and took out his handkerchief to wipe at America's face.
stopped moving when he touched his face and just stared at him, cheeks a little pink.
only noticed that America was staring at him after he was done. Realising what he just did, he looked away with a blush. "Th-There! Learn_
_not to be so sloppy with your eating. It's basic manners!"
"Thanks..." Was England...? No way, not possible.
stuffed the handkerchief back into his pocket. "W-What?"
"Are you blushing?" he blurted out.
's hands immediately flew to his cheeks. It was burning. "N-No! I'm not!"
"You're all red! Do you have a fever?"
"I-It's just the heat! Your weather is terrible here!"
"It's not that hot! You need an ice pack or something!" He jumped up to go to his freezer.
couldn't help but turn even redder at America's concern. Could he call it that? Or perhaps he was trying to be a 'hero' again...
wrapped the ice pack in a towel, and held it against England's forehead. "Dude, don't overheat!"
hissed when the sudden coldness hit his forehead. "It's nothing to be fretting over. Give it to me, I can do it myself." he said, and_
_reached out to hold the ice pack himself. He may or may not have accidentally placed his hand over America's.
didn't notice at first, too concerned about England's health. When he realized he blushed and awkwardly pulled his hand away. "Yeah, you_
only noticed when he felt something slipped out from beneath his hand. "Thank you..." he muttered, and tilted his head down to hide his_
cleared his throat, "Why did you come again, I forgot... something about the soldiers?"
shook his head. "Never mind. It doesn't matter now..." He the frowned, wanting to say something but hesitating.
"It's never nothing with you..." he muttered.
looked up to him, an eyebrow quirked. "What do you mean?"
"You can be so cryptic Artie, it makes my head hurt..."
frowned at the sudden change in mood. He snorted, "Don't make it sound like as if you give a lot of thought into what I say. You aren't_
_even listening to me half the time."
gave him a quick smile and a wink, "That's what you think."
blushed and looked away. "I might be right in my thinking..."
"Maybe you'll have to decide."
scowled. As much as America didn't get him, he didn't understand him either. "Perhaps."
tilted his head, waiting for some kind of answer. Although he really wasn't sure what he was asking anymore.
(( Somehow, I feel like I've made England veered this into a very odd direction. Sorry orz ))
"I have never hated you too, you know..." he said suddenly, after a long moment of silence. "But I suppose you already knew that. Being the_
_narcissistic prat that you are."
"Really? Wait, then why do you yell at me!?"
"Because you can be an infuriating idiot at times."
crossed his arms and leaned back against the couch, "Maybe you just have a short temper."
"Only with you." Or for most people, rather.
"Which I don't get because I'm awesome. The hero is number one!"
sighs, "You are always on that, aren't you?" He glanced at his watch. Perhaps it would be a good time for him to leave now... He still_
_hadn't got a hotel to stay in.
noticed him checking his watch, "Do you have somewhere to be?" He tried to ignore the twinge he felt whenever he realized that England_
_didn't come for not just him.
shook his head. "Not really, no. I just need to find a place to stay for the night, before my flight back tomorrow."
"You can stay here, I have a guest room you know. Tony lives in the basement so he won't bother you."
"Wouldn't it be a bother to you? I did drop by without informing you beforehand..."
"Nope! The sheets might be a little dusty, but I've got spares. It'll be fun, we can order pizza and hang out!"
now thinking that maybe it wasn't such a good idea. But... it has been a while since they spent some time together... Not that he cared_
_or anything, of course. "I suppose... Very well. In that case, thank you for having me here."
grinned at him, "Do you have stuff or do you need to borrow pajamas?" He was already halfway up the stairs to get the room ready.
scowled in response to the grin, not really enjoying the effect it had on him. He was about to say that he did have a set of pyjamas in his_
_briefcase but fortunately, realised it in time that it would have exposed the excuse he made up to come all the way here. "That wouldn't_
_be necessary... I could just take off my blazer and suit pants, and sleep in my shirt."
"If you really want to hang out in your underwear don't let me stop you." he shouted back down the stairs as he dug through the linen closet
_for the right size sheets.
considered that for a moment as he went upstairs, following after America. "Wouldn't your pyjamas be a little loose on me?"
"Yeah, I guess that's true." He carried the sheets into the room and began getting the bed ready.
stopped him. "It's fine. I can take it from here."
"Artie I know how to put sheets on a bed, I don't need you to do it. I have had my own house long enough." He continued.
withdrew then. "A-Ah... Yes, I suppose that's true..."
smiled at him. "You're a guest, act like one." he teased.
looked away and nodded. "In that case, I'll just wait downstairs then."
a little nervous that England will try to escape when his back was turned. He had done that more times than he could count when he was_
_little... He put the bed together as fast as he could and tossed some pajamas on top in case England wanted them. He hurried back down the_
_stairs. "England?" he called.
tidying up a few things in the living room, trying to occupy himself with something to do. He looked up at his name being called. "Yes?"
tried to slow his heartbeat, he was sure that he would have snuck away. "Nothing, you're room is ready. When do you want to eat?"
raised an eyebrow at the odd look that crossed America's face. He looked like as if he was anxious about something. "Perhaps a little_
_later. You have just eaten a burger, haven't you?" A pause. "Are you all right?"
"Okay. That's right. What do you want to do until then? An yeah, I'm fine." he replied all at once.
frowned slightly, but said nothing else about it otherwise. "You can decide. You are the host, after all."
"Let's watch a movie! I found some good scary ones!"
looked unsure. "Are you sure about this? You know how you are with horror movies."
didn't know, "What do you mean? I can handle it!"
"I do!" He went over to the DVD case and selected some cases. "Which do you think?"
looked through the titles. "Suit yourself. I am fine with anything, really."
picked one out that looked really scary. He got it started and plopped down on the couch.
settled into the couch with a soft sigh. "Don't hold onto me with your idiot strength when you get scared," he said, wondering why he_
_regretted his words almost as soon as he said it.
"Heroes don't get scared!" he protested, wrapping his arms around a pillow.
"We'll see about that." He averted his eyes to the screen when the title music played.
watched excitedly, vampire movies weren't so scary.
that's only because America's version of 'vampires' pales in comparison to Dracula. If he wanted scary vampires, he should ask Romania_
does have Dracula movies! He doesn't see what's so scary about that!
would like to ask... What are the titles of these Dracula movies that he had seen?
it's been a while since he's kind of fallen out of fashion... but he was pretty sure there was one called just 'Dracula'.
supposes then he will do fine with this movie... Which was a relief for him, really.
leaned back and watched, it wasn't bad so far...
stole a few glances at the American from the corner of his eyes. This was a little awkward, considering that this was the first time in a_
_long while since they had spent time together.
stole glances in return, he had been surprised, and really pleased that England had wanted to hang out with him... He wondered if he should_
blushed and quickly looked away when he was caught looking. He bit his lip and twiddled his thumbs in a nervous habit, feeling like he_
_should say something but having nothing on mind to start a conversation.
's mind drifted a little bit from the movie. He was thinking too much about what to say to England. A flash across the screen caught him_
_off guard. "Ghost!" He practically jumped on England.
jolted a little when America threw his entire weight on him. He frowned and tried to push the other off him, although the effort made was a_
_little half-hearted. "It's just lightning on screen, you idiot. Now get off me, you are breaking my legs with your weight."
climbed off of him, but he was still sitting really close, their shoulders were touching. "Are you sure it wasn't a ghost?" he asked.
wanted to lean away but his body refused to obey. "I think I would know since I can see them."
looked at him wide-eyed, "No way!"
"Is that so hard to believe?" He turned his head towards a window. "There is one waving to us over there. Friendly chap, he is."
stared over to where he was looking, "I don't see a ghost..."
snorted, "You aren't looking hard enough then."
"England, that's not cool... you're freaking me out..."
