had an apparently scam email threatening to kill me & my family [I don't have any] & wondered if this sort of thing is happening to others?

no but I think you should probably report it to you ISP and to the police.
I have had one of those. I just deleted it. I rely on Karma to get those who send them.

going to warn my friends that it is a scam in case they receive it also & complete a short report to the Federal Police as it IS illegal.
