S: I'm all right. Sort of tired, but all right. Last night was a long night.
S: Ah, surprise attack on the base last night. We lost Grayson. (shakes head)
Oh. (frowns) I'm sorry, that sucks.
S: Fourth one this round. We'll bounce back from it, I just kinda wish I had stopped instead of running out with the guys.
Sometimes there's nothing you can do to help though. And if you hadn't gone with the guys, one of them could've gotten hurt.
S: Yeah, that's true. Carter almost was. (shakes head) It just keeps gettin' worse over here.
That's the sad part about war, it takes the longest time to get better..
S: I'm not too surprised, really. We've been over here for a year and a half now. Just six months before we go home though. (smiles)
Yay! Going home is good.
S: Definitely is. I know Lan can't want to get back
S: (shrugs a bit) I have nothing in particular to get back to. It'll be nice to have a safe bed again though.
S: (shakes head) I haven't been in touch with my family since Heather was born. And all my friends are right here.
S: (nods) I'm not good at bein' social.
Hey, there's nothing wrong with that. I'm not either. My sister's the social butterfly.
(nods) Mhm. I tend to stay in my room and do my own stuff. Reading, writing, laying there thinking.
S: (nods) I'm sorta a lot like that. Most of the guys here don't even know my name, I'm quiet enough. Just Lan, and even he
Oh wow. (reaches into pocket, pulls out chocolate chip cookies, offers one)
S: (smiles, takes it thankfully) My favorite.
(smiles brightly) I'm glad. (nibbles on it) I made 'em this morning.
S: (takes a bite, giggles) I used to bake a lot.
S: (nods) I wanted to open up my own shop for a long time.
Well maybe after the war you can.
S: (small laugh) There ain't nothin' left of Salemburg. Not after the last wave.
Well I'm sure there's somewhere else you could go, yeah?
S: There is, I'm sure. Lan keeps sayin' I should come back to Manhattan with him. I'm not so sure on that.
S: New York is Lan's place. Not mine.
Ahhh. Well, maybe you could come to Maine.
Mhm. Maine is really pretty.
S: (smiles) I like pretty. Is it real heavy populated?
(shakes head) Not overly populated, but there's enough people.
S: (smiles a little more) Sounds kinda perfect.
It is. Would you like to see a picture?
