No it totally was legitimately hostile. Like to the point where we actually boycotted the 1980 summer games in Moscow due to tensions and-

opposition to the Soviet Afghan war. AND THEN they boycotted Los Angeles right back in 84.

there was also some crazy hockey controversy one year but IDK which one. o.o
