Okay Lavi/Road I'll do this one as just the canon relationship.

Which is WOW SADISTIC MINDFUCK. Road is so Cat and Mouse with the Exorcists, and Lavi in particular will play along with it without getting

really self-righteous/NO WE ARE ENEMIES (even though he thinks that and doesn't like her).

Kanda/Lavi?

And there's tension on Lavi's part because Road can totally fuck around with him no problem, and while he proved a formidable

opponent I wouldn't say he's a serious threat to Road.

Or that she sees him as such.

And they kind of play facetious masks at each other.

Daisya/Kanda ALSO IN CANON CONTEXT I've never put much thought into it as a pairing. :|a

I kind of see Daisya as a sort of relationship of normalcy to Kanda, compared to Lenalee (who is traumatized and tied

life long to the Order) or Komui (his superior) or Marie (who is aware of his past before becoming an Exorcist).

Daisya knows jack shit, came from a pretty normal family, lived in a normal town, etc.

I'm sure they grew close, but I don't think there was the same sort of depth he has with other people he knows simply because Daisya

didn't experience living his whole life in the Order, or being part of the Second Exorcist Experiment.

WHICH WAS OKAY Kanda was secure with something that wasn't a constant reminder of the pain and burden he was saddled with.

Kanda/Lenalee Getting all the D.Gray ships out of the way first.

Canonically they're close, sibling-like, blah blah.

THIS IS OTP #1 because I have two I do what I want.

I think that Lenalee very much fits into Kanda's type, and Kanda's one of the most vital pieces to Lenalee's world

And they have years of history together, which makes them very in tune with one another because they've lived

/enjoys these

side-by-side, and so are very naturally, intimately aware of each other and hold the other in high regard.

And obviously there were secrets so like, Lenalee has not always known where Kanda is coming from.

but she's known who he is, and Kanda's known the same (especially since he was there when she was at her lowest).

AND LENALEE HAS THE STUBBORN TO COUNTER KANDA'S while still willing to let him go to something he's really passionate about

(like Skinn) while not letting him forget she's here (demanding him promise to follow them).

And Kanda is a very stable, grounding force for Lenalee--he's something that doesn't really change, and in a situation like war

where you could lose your fellow comrades at any time that is very important.

And he also makes her feel safe, I think! I don't think she'd still be fleeing to him years later re: Leverrier if he didn't.

And Lenalee is an equal to Kanda, someone he can respect. And someone who's very caring and loving and emotionally intimate with her

important people which is good because KANDA IS ACTUALLY REALLY EMOTIONALLY CENTERED AROUND THOSE HE LOVES.

I don't think he could successfully be in a relationship with someone constantly cold because he is actually very passionate about what is

important to him. He's just also an abrasive jerk on the outside.

WHICH LENALEE IS USED TO AND SHE CAN ACTUALLY REIGN HIM IN ANYWAY so that isn't a signifigant problem.

OKAY I ship this one less in a proper romantic relationship and more of a... UST/comfort/distract/doomed to be temporary thing.

I don't think Kanda and Lavi areeee actually all that close to one another. Because they are both very, very closed off about themselves.

They don't talk about their pasts or feelings or really bond over each other--so they pretty much just have their comradry as a

So there's not really a lot of emotional intimacy there, and Lavi's got his Bookman conflicts anyway, so I think even if they did fall in

love there'd be too much strain/distance/Kanda having a woman he's pining after pre-Alma Arc for it to last.

And they'd expect it and hammer it in as something that wouldn't outlast the war even if that initially sounds kind of miserable

because... comfort.

Kanda giving Lavi an outlet for his attachments in hopes of making it easier to leave if he wears out his ability to care through his

ability to desire and Lavi giving Kanda an isolated situation (because it def. wouldn't be public) where he can shut out reality for a few

...This lines up a lot with how I see Lavi/Kanda, but god, it's still depressing to see it all laid out like this.

There would have to be a major event for Lavi/Kanda to progress passed that sort of emotional distance.

and even then, it's very possible they wouldn't work out when forced to be honest with their feelings.

Ingus/Sara short game, not a lot of development to talk about, never got to play with one, I'm just a sucker for knight/bodyguard
